Let's get back to the cricket

International Tests
comment on the article

Harbhajan Singh has been cleared of racial abuse by an Adelaide appeal.

There has been much written about the incident involving him and Australian Andrew Symonds during the Sydney Test.

But speaking as a cricket fan and a neutral, surely now is the time to let the matter go and get back to the bat and ball.

Australia and India are two of the most gifted sides to grace the game for ages. And Harbhajan and Symonds are two of the most entertaining players around.

Here's hoping any bad will is left far behind and that we are treated to scintillating and sporting cricket, starting at the Twenty20 in Melbourne on Friday.

Judge Hansen conducted himself very well as most mild-mannered Kiwis do. ICC should learn quickly not to mess up such high profile cases. Let's hope we don't get to see any more of the cases during the triangular series. I wonder how well Dhoni can control the volatile temper of Sree Santh who now joins Singh on the ODIs. It is best for cricket's sake if these two as well as Symonds toned down their reactions for a few weeks.

See Sardar, your first name should be Richard. You don't know me but you call me names.

I can assure you I am not a coward, nor do I countenance the behavior you also disparage.

But you lot insist on calling people names. I don't even live in Australia, so you can be sure I haven't been in the crowd calling anyone names, nothing to do with monkey's nor elephants.

You stand on the other side of a cultural divide. You seem to live in this world of name calling.

I come from the world of Kick Azz. You wouldn't have the jewels to talk this way to my face.

This is supposed to be a forum, and you insist on this crybaby stuff.

Why do you persist?

Armchair, and Indiacricket.

Are you really looking for a response here? Do you really think that you are providing reasoned arguments to anything?
You both accuse Oz of being cheats and liars. India even said they cheat and play hard and fair. ???

Do you even understand what you are writing?

Do you really think you are in a debate and holding your own?

Help me out here. I like a debate, but when I read some of this stuff I wonder what is going through your head
----------------------

I have said that the people who STILL accuse the Indian player of racism are officially liars. The evidence is all there. Insulting someones mum in a non racial context is not racist. People who still cry and whine about Indian racism are deluded and probably racist themselves if they cannot handle the simple truth.

Hey EnglishIndian, I never said you were racist, just boorish and inconsiderate in the way you continue to bad mouth people. I never even called HS racist. Though I have suspicions.

I said that in my opinion attacking someone's family (mother in this case) is in extremely poor taste, and I suspect he's lucky not to have been taken to the woodshed.

As an aside, seeing as you have ripped into Ponting for not stopping Symonds, what's your opinion of Indian Cricket team leadership, captain and senior players, around their willingness to shut Singh up?

They were either part of it, or not particularly effective.

I agree Yellow Trumper and he got the punishment he deserved. I personally think sledging should be banned. Only cowards resort to sledging and childish name calling. The cricketers should let the cricket do the talking!

Good quote from Steve Waugh in his autobiography, Out of My Comfort Zone, on the third Test in India in 2001: "Not only did Harbhajan dictate terms with the ball, he backed it up with verbal barrages that would have been big news if we'd been giving instead of receiving."

I've never tried to pretend that Australia were innocent or anything, I just dislike the insinuation that we are the only ones to do it.

Anyway, here's to a good CB series, should be a good one and hopefully the cricket itself will be the main story.

armchair obviously you haven't played sport to a very high level, i.e over the under 12's team. Sledging is a part of all sport. Call it gamesmanship. But people like Singh need to recognise the invisible, yet agreed apon, line between accptable and not acceptable

I have played cricket at many levels although never at professional level. The players who sledge tend to be the poor quality players and wind up merchants. This is the type of behaviour which causes the problems we have seen now. Attacking peoples mothers, name calling, racist chants etc.. All unaccaptable but people lable it sledging, How cowardly, how pathetic how childish. I am glad not all cricket players resort to sledging.

2 points to make

1.what ever biased aussies say...except aussies nobody have respect for them(unlike once world had for greatest windies team)...

2.they are not respected because they are indiciplined, arrogence and cheaters...they intimidate umpires more than anybody and THEY ARE the first to disrespect umpires decision..it's different story that umpires have different measures for them.

3.When aussies abuse anybody it is "banter"...when they cheats it is "hard and fair"...when something went against them they do baby cries...

worst world champion ever...though aussies fan can take proud of that..

Reply to Indiacricketer: I have unlimited respect for the Australian team, and I'm English. Why? Because I love cricket, and I recognise class. End of.
