Premier League Bolton Wanderers
comment on the article

Hi to all Bolton fans looks like Gary Cahill is off to you lot in the next few days, you are getting a really good young defender i cant believe we are selling him as Zat Night is nowhere as good as him, but im glad its to you and not that small club across the city, you will love him trust me is will be a great signing.

I see a lot of people slating Zat Knight, but I didn't see anyone compalining when he scored on hsi debut against Chelsea. he's done a good job for us.

Cahills decent player, but he isnt good enough to take us where we want to go. Getting rid of this mid table player for 5 million is good business, it gives us half of the money to sign a 10 million pound wingback like Boswinga, someone who we really need.

O'Neill knows hwta he's doing, and need i remind everyone we are fifth in the table. That's the only thing I care about.

Luke Moore had a run in the team but couldn't score, sold, Ridgewell was a liability at the back, squad player at best,S Davis has done nothing at Fulham and Cahill would not dislodge the first choice centre halves but admittedly he is better than Knight. Would he sit and stay on the bench, no. All of them sold and good business if you ask me.

Maloney is class, Young is class, Davis is going to be class and Harewood has looked a threat in the last two games. Petrov is a solid midfield player. O Neill is doing a great job, leave him alone.

How can people be questioning O' Neill? In case you hadn't realised we're 6th! And what part has Cahill played in Villa's season? Nothing. If O' Neill couldn't guarentee him 1st team football, it is perfectly feasible, that he requested to move. If he is unhappy, then O' Neill is only doing what is right for the player and the team to let him go.

From a Villa fan Cahill was the best young prospect we had at Villa. Fair play Bolton fans you have signed not just a future world class centre back but I believe a future club and England team captain. Give this guy afew years of playing week in week out and he'll be next to Terry in a 3 lions shirt. All the best Gary. Glad you never became a bluenose.

Is Cahill actually any good? 5Mill for a CB who is what 5th choice at Villa seems a bit steep to me....

I'm not on here to provocate...I'm just generally curious...

Cahill a very good player - Bolton have made a good signing there...5m? maybe a bit steep...?

We are losing Mellberg end of season and with both Curtis Davies and Zat Knight looking less than convincing I'm not really sure why O'neil letting Cahill go...

Cahill's a good player, he'll certainly shine among all the dross at Bolton. Best of luck to him in his career, he has the ability to go far.

Still think £5m is good business for him though - many Villa fans have rose tinted spectacles due to THAT goal against Birmingham but in my eyes he's never done an awful lot else worthy of mention. Looking class in the Championship means nothing - even Titus Bramble looked a world beater in the fizzy pop league. The Davies/Laursen partnership is developing nicely and i think it'll only be a matter of time before Villa start keeping clean sheets again.

As a Villa fan, albeit with no family ties in the Midlands, I've always admired the club for bringing through own talents. With this in mind it's somewhat sad to see a player like Cahill (and Luke Moore) leave the club. On that topic, wtf has happened to L.Moore. Before his injury, when we played with JPA on top with gabby and Moore on the wings, he played great!?!?
