Hicks to remain with Liverpool

So, what did you guys think of Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks revealing he has no plans to sell his 50% stake in the club?

He said Dubai International Capital were interested in a small chunk, but were not prepared to meet the valuation.

Those discussions were supposed to have happened a few months ago, but the BBC have revealed that the club is still in talks with Dubai International Capital - I wonder what that's about?

He also backed manager Rafa Benitez on the Sportsweek programme.

Have your say on the matter.

I can't believe all these merchants of doom with their "the day liverpool fc died" shennanigans. Football teams go through these dramas, it's mostly all press melodrama anyway.

We're not used to our business matters being flaunted in the press, we're used to focusing on the football, but unfortunately this is the modern game and part of our problem is that we're slow at moving with the times. We hold so fast to our past, that we lose focus on our future.

H&G have been naive in some of their decisions, particularly their Klinsmann clanger, but I don't believe they've gone back on what they said when they took over and let's not forget that their finances are probably taking a hammering with all this trouble in the markets so maybe they have reasons to be feeling a little twitchy and unsettled.

Let's face it, what it boils down to as fans is that we're just all disappointed that yet again we're 14 points adrift of United and the title we want to reclaim so badly is running away from us. 6th place behind Villa and the bitters hurts and there's no point denying it.

From a football standpoint, the squad as it stands is strong in ability, we know Rafa is capable of building a winning side, but the players in the team have to perform and that's what it's boiling down to right now. They're not. They don't look motivated enough, there's no drive or winning mentality like there is in the united/chelsea teams and whether that's down to Rafa or not I don't know, but that's not a problem you can throw money at.

If we've got to focus off anything off the pitch, I think it should be what's going on at Melwood with regards to coaching, fitness and motivation rather than where the next £200m is coming from, then we'll start seeing the results we want.

For the fans, we can do nothing to change what happens in the boardroom. When it's so obvious the players are lacking in motivation and/or confidence how is singing anti american chants at and holding banners in protest during games helping? We're supposed to be the twelfth man and Rafa could do with a twelfth man at this moment in time!!

We'll come through it, let's just focus on doing our job as fans and leave the boardroom nonsense where it belongs.

YNWA!

I would just make a few points as i don't believe things are not are they seem.
1.DIC still seem to be in the frame
2.Where was Mr Gillett on Friday ???
3.Mr Hicks appears to have the loan at his disposal but will he spend it ???
4.Why is Mr Hicks in Dubai .....

Some interesting comments from all sides and much to contemplate for us die-hards. We have reached a point where we can no longer deny that problems exist at Anfield but the true nature of those problems is as always a matter of opinion.

The only concern which is real and tangible and undoubted is our form on the pitch which since November has been poor.

Once again it's supposition to say what the cause of this is but I think there is little doubt that the playing staff do not feel the surety and confidence that they should.

My greatest fear is that these poor performances are indicative that some of the players no longer have confidence in Benitez. Whatever the cause, this is the problem which concerns me most.

I hope im not stating the obvious but if we'd turned two or three of the home draws in to three points would we be having this debate at all, H&G dropped a proverbial over the Klinnsman debacle but theyre yanks in a foriegn world they'll learn, we have no reason to dis-believe what they tell us just yet, dont get me wrong i think i'd prefer the DIC people but im prepared to listen for a season at least. For me Liverpools troubles lie firmly on the pitch and it wouldnt surprise me if the unrest coming out of Anfield is a smokescreen to hide behind whats happening on the pitch, Ive lost all confidence in Rafa, he still has no idea in the league after numerous attempts, one in every three buys turn out decent and his stubborness grates on me more than Wengers dodgy eyesight, i'd love him to turn it round but i think the blind faith shown by sections of the kop is misguided and a few more dodgy performances will bring it ti bear. Saying that hes a lucky manager so we'll probably win the champions league or fa cup and all be well...........

Breaking news , check out the LIverpool Echo
All the £350m debt will have to be met by the football club with interest payments of £30m a year. Seems like some people have been telling lies and other peoples expert views have got it very wrong .....

"Hicks' son, Tom Jr., was spat at and abused by Liverpool fans in a pub after Saturday's win against Middlesbrough."

Just so this gets said:

I do not support the same Liverpool Football Club as these so-called "fans"
