Barnet 0 - 1 Bristol Rovers

The Gas have just won 1 - 0 away to Barnet thanks to a Rickie Lambert diving header following a great run and cross from David Pipe.

Rovers started the game in the worst possible way when a ball was played in from the wing saw the ball allegedly strike the hand of Jacobson and the ref had no doubt in giving a penalty. (Harsh according to radio commentary)

However Steve Phillips saved the penalty with a good save from Jason Puncheon's spot kick and justice had been done.
Barnet had more possesion than The Gas in the first half without creating anything to trouble Steve Phillips, in an average first half.

The second half started brightly and Rovers scored 4 minutes in with a header from David Pipe's cross to send the away fans in to utter delight. (Again according to the radio!!!)

Rovers held on to gain a deserved win against the league 2 side and are in the hat for the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Fantastic result today lads, you've done the club proud.
Let's hope for a big team in the next round.

Might not have been pretty, but a win is a win. Well done to the boys, round 5 awaits!

We all hope for a big team but will have to deal with what we get.
Could be Barnsley, Coventry, Preston, Huddersfield, or the winners of Cardiff/Hereford.
Lot of teams left that don't really get you excited.
Personally I would like an away tie at Arsenal, Liverpool or Man Utd/Spurs.
Keep dreaming and hoping till Monday lunchtime.

Sharing the love with Irene!!

Bee's fan here. Well played you lot- hope you get a good draw in the next round. We had a lot of possession in first half but created very little. Having to change formation to accomodate two extra strikers seemed to throw us out and we didn't really threaten. Good fair game and a credit to the sportsmanship of both sets of players.

So, the last 16

With the games being played today, and on current form, here's the full list, thier division and current position in that league:

Team Div Position

Man Utd P 1
Arsenal P 2
Chelsea P 3
Liverpool P 6
Man City P 7
Portsmouth P 9
Middlesbrough P 13

West Brom C 1
Cardiff C 9
Wolverhampton C 10
Southampton C 13
Barnsley C 16
Coventry C 19
Preston C 22

Huddersfield D1 17
Bristol Rovers D1 18

Premiership = 7
Championship = 7
D1 = 2

or (more unlikely)with the formbook out the window:

Arsenal P 2
Chelsea P 3
Liverpool P 6
Portsmouth P 9
Tottenham P 11
Middlesbrough P 13

West Brom C 1
Wolverhampton C 9
Southampton C 10
Sheffield Utd C 14
Barnsley C 16
Coventry C 19
Preston C 22

Huddersfield D1 17
Bristol Rovers D1 18

Hereford D2 4

P = 6
C = 7
D1 = 2
D2 = 1

So, now all the teams are there, stats say that it's either a Premier League or Championship team in the 5th Round. Home or Away, no difference, but not all 5th Round ties are televised. Should Rovers hope to get a lower Championship/Huddersfield at the Mem, scrape a win, get into the last 8 and have a better chance of getting on the telly, and pulling a few quid in for that Striker we've been harping on about on this forum since we got promoted?

Isn't that the best that we can hope for? Oh, and a great day out. Oh, and for Mark Lawrenson to go on about "The spirit of the FA Cup etc etc".

Don't get me wrong, away to Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool will do me fine in Rd 5. Just where's that season ticket from 1991-92?

It's a case of 'job done'. Disjointed at times...but improved as the game opened up and Barnet had to chase it.
I may have been wrong about Coles....he's getting better each time he plays....was m.o.m. for me yesterday.
Like everyone else I'd love a 'big' team now...but there is a pattern. We've done Conference( Rushden), League 2( Barnet), League 1(Orient), and Premier( Fulham)...what price Championship to complete the set??
