Arthur versus Guzman

Super feather

I have just read on a thread that most people reckon Joan Guzman to be one of the most under rated champions out there at the minute.

Does anyone think that Arthur has a chance against Guzman or is this a step to far for the Scotsman???

Your thoughts please

Guzman is serious quality, in terms of sheer ability (though his fights don't say it yet) he is probably second to Floyd Mayweather only.
Really powerful hitter, great acuracy, very good on the inside and good defence (movement) also from his last fiight he showed a good chin too.

If he gets the big fights I am sure he will show everyone how good he is.

I can't say I know a great amount about Guzman apart from the fact that he's undefeated and was down to fight Scott Harrison before Harrison's incarceration but I have seen Arthur's last two fights. One was an impressive stoppage of Georgian Koba Gogoladze and at the time, it looked as if Arthur might have been able to get somewhere but I was disappointed with his slightly lazy performance against the unheralded Stephen Foster Jr, who looked as if he had the power and the motivation to KO Arthur. All it will take is one firm, hungry contender and Arthur will be down for the count.

I know this is getting repetative but it guzman all the silky smooth decent dig arthur's not the hardest to hit is he? and when required guzman can brawl i don't even see it going all the way but after alls said and done guzman will probably vacate move up arthur then becomes full champ and fights some ex title holder (who's a bit past it) then brag about how he's being avoided .

onlyonematty, that's the sort of thing Frank Warren must dream about.

He doesnt like to put his fighters in against genuine class unless he can absolutely avoid it. I'm sure big Frank was looking to avoid Guzman if he possibly could. That boy is class. (Joan not Frank)

Hearns seriously have you seen Guzman fight? He is proper quality, his style is abit like Hopkins'(arms tight up to his face for his guard and sways alot) but his inside game is really good, find clean shots regularly - bold statement but trust me - only prblem is he has to take on pacman or marquez first to get the recognition n that is not going to happen any time soon - by the way anyone tell me what nationality he is? I always get confused - Puerto Rican? Paraguyan?

bigmanwat, he's from Dominican Republic. He's also a card-carrying bada$$ and will destroy Arthur if that fight happens.

Would love to see Guzman in with winner of Marquez/Pacquiao rematch but expect him to go up to lightweight.

Wasn't guzman world or olympic champ as an amateur?

He has a very high skill set anyway, defensively very similar to mayweather.
