this is bad news for watford. Hes a goal scorer and it doesnt send out a good message to be selling your number one striker.

really dissapointed in fulham here. clearly al fayed had second thoughts about the amount and that has messed the deal up for us. if we are going to stay up, which i cant see happening, he is going to have to spend that sort of money on a proven goal scorer in the english leagues.

Vaughn Smith

Why is it when someone wants to inprove themselves and earn more income they are chastised as being money grabber, thats offensive.
All persons in my opinion have the right to seek the best for themselves and their family and also the club benifit from having income coming in.
As for the Jamaican expulsion dont even mention that. As someone close to Jamaican football it pains me to see that the same adminstration which expel him did so unfairly as there were other Jamaican players who were guilty of the same offence of being out late. He was suspended because he commented on the unprofessional manner in which the tour was being handled with the team being lost on the way to the staidum and being late to other venue etc. The adminstration took offence and so to cover themselves they expelled him.

As expected the same adminstration took Jamaican football from a top fifty FIFA ranking to 103 the result is that with a new adminstration now in and looking to improve the football again the Jamaican team can't even get gear sponsership because we are ranked so low. The Jamaican team will also struggle to get realy competitive teams to practice in trying to qualify for the next world cup.
So please DON'T critise the player for a stupid adminstration. One of the first move of the new adminstration was to reinstate the player as they were aware of the injustice.

And by the way the bill to the English FA for the part of the gate receipt for the tour has still not being paid and the new adminstration is now saddled with the bill.

More could be said but let it be there for now. Support the player, thank him for the service to the club and wish him well. And remember paying the medical bill of a players is part of the contract. After all most employees no matter the industry has medical insurance covered in whole or part by the employer

Yeah, just to echo the above post, I have it on good authority that it was more a case of the Jamaica setup being thoroughly and consistently unprofessional.

When Jamasiseeit says they got lost on the way to the stadium and were late, apparently this is because the whole team coach went from their hotel in Leicester to the Walkers Stadium via London (yes, the London 90-odd miles away) to pick up one of the players. King thought this was a stupid idea and said so, and the management took the next opportunity to slate him in public. doh

Anyone wanting to "draw your own conclusions," as Vaughan_Smith invites us to, should probably bear that in mind. Again, good luck to Marlon and Wigan.

I was at last weekend's game at Vicarage Road, where Marlon clearly wasn't involved as everyone expected his transfer to Fulham was about to go through.

A significant number of fans in the Rookery were chanting a whole load of negative stuff about him. I think this is because they feel betrayed. I don't actually think we've got any right to feel like that. Yes - we paid his wages (he was top earner) whilst he spent most of last year on the treatment table. And yes, that was when we needed him most. Our whole game was built around him. That he got injured wasn't his fault. He did well for us and we did well for him. He's a Premiership striker now because Watford gave him a chance to make something of himself.

I'm happy with the transfer to be honest. We're an average team at best. Certainly no better than Derby, what happens if we do go up? Marlon isn't going to keep us there on his own. In fact, the jury is out on Marlon as to whether he's Premiership quality anyway. He clearly thinks he is and he might be right. But then again, he's quite arrogant. He came out and said the burden of being Watford's talisman was weighing on him. Err... hang on mate. He was also on a tidy package, improved terms AFTER relegation from the the Prem. I think the other players felt he was a bit of a prima donna, he was always throwing his arms around when passes went astray and looked to be a bit of a sulker. We've had an awful run at home recently and throughout, Marlon has done nothing to change that. When on the brink of a move to Fulham, he claimed he would keep them up. A tad arrogant wouldn't you agree?

I also think Fulham have messed up here. They wanted him, but thought they could knock the price down with some rubbish about his old injury. He's fit, no doubt. Fulham were playing games and they are going down anyway.

I think Wigan will stay up and I think Marlon probably thought that too.

C'est la vie.

It seems to me like Wigan won't really make that much of a difference, but it will be interesting to see King make an impact for their fight against relegation.

Im a watford fan and all i have to say is fair play to the lad, he's done well for himself and the club while at watford, and now he wants a new challenge.
The only thing i am unsure about is why go to a club who are fighting relegation, if watford do go up (which looks unlikely after being at their recent matches they look like a team fighting for relegation in the championship not going for promotion) he could have missed out on premierhship football not gained it!

Jamasiseeit -

King is NOT going to Wigan to 'better himself'. He is going there because he gets a nice slice of the transfer fee, as well as wages well in excess of double what he is on at Watford. If he was looking to 'better himself', he would have gone to an upwardly mobile club like Villa or Everton. As the only clubs that showed any interest are battling against relegation, you won't get long odds against King being a Championship player again next season. That does not sound like 'bettering oneself', more like chasing the money.

He went for the money - fair enough. But the disppointing thing is that he wanted to go during the summer, and it certainly showed in the first few ganes of the season. I think that he owed it to Aidy Boothroyd, who rescued his career, to at least show some commitment to the club while he was a player instead of sulking on the pitch. THAT is why a large number of us Watford fans are rather miffed with him, and will be quite happy to see him playing in the Championship next season with Wigan!
