Pakistans Future Players

International Tests Pakistan

Traditionaly Pakistan has always picked its players based on ability....

It didnt matter if the players were young or inexperienced or had not played much domestic cricket, if they had that raw talent they were thrown in at the deep end.

Sometimes this didnt work and player was out of his depth or not ready our system then discarded this player who often never seen or picked again.

However sometimes this ploy produced dividends.

Wasim Akram
Waqar Younis
Mustaq Ahmed
Inzimam
Saqlain
Shoaib Aktar
Saeed Anwar

these guys had played next to no cricket befor being thrown into the deep end. they however did not sink but became cricketers who will live long in the memory..

Our recent problems have extended from the ineptitude and fear of our selectors, unlike past selectors they dont want to be blamed for young players failing so they try to base selction on Aussie/English etc strategies i.e, allow young players to play domestic cricket and improve until we are able to select them for international cricket...

Pakistani domestic cricket is not competitive enough, the groundsmen make pitches which are flat and durable and good for batting.

Thus are inhibited when they play in our domestic cricket, the talented batsmen get used to smashing bowlers everywhere because the wickets are flat and when they face a seaming track they have trouble..

Bowlers do however learn how to hold their own against aggressive batsmen and learn the tricks of the trade on how to get batsmen out and often Pakistan bowlers will be above average..

Since pakistans cricket greats such as wasim, waqar, inxi, Saeed retired we have had a void whioch the selectors have failed to fill, picking failing players over and over and over again.

It is only after the last few shocks to the system (WC07, SA series, India series) that anger and outrage has forced the selctors and the PCB into looking for new talent..

Lets hope for a better future

Dont get me wrong the domestic set up is not pathetic, its just mediocre..

Because you have a few teams which are super strong and have all the best players and resources and facilities and then you have other teams which dont..

So ever season the same teams end up winning the tropheies and only get real challenges when they play each other..

If a excellant player emerges for one of the lesser teams he is often taken by the bigger teams who offer more.

Players like Misbah were always talented but never were given an extended run in international cricket ALSO who do you replace with misbah

Inzi, MoYo, Younis, Saeed we had great players and we could drop them.

Now our greats have retired there is more space for Misbah

Mind the repetitions, Shoaib has been a dead man walking for a while. Considering that Jamshed has been drafted in for the current series alongside the ineffctive Samiullah, where is Ali Anwar ?

Some of you are getting over excited. How was Misbah talented early on and never given a chance. He is playing good now because he has matured, just like Hussey who is averaging 80+, who knows what he would have averaged or how his career would have planned out. People like Saqlain were never given the support they needed to overcome their injuries and they never had the chance to play again. Kaneria is shite. Samiullah needs time and guidance from Akram, a bit of advice and his pace will go up and he will start to swing the ball. I doubt it Akram will help unless he is offered a bit of money. After all he in Australia giving tips to Pathan and co.
I think Anwar Ali should be bought in, they should forget about Akhtar.
Another thing about Misbah is that there is no doubt that he is a good player but he doesn't deserve the role of vice captain. He had a good 20/20 and a good series against India. What happened against South Africa. I wonder how Younus will be feeling?

I guess now we will see what Aktar is made of now that he isnt automatically guarenteed a place in the team, and the lucrative central contract. He undoubtedly needed this kick up the backside, the only question is will he respond positively, or will his arrogant atitude and pride prevent him from picking up the gauntlet.

what is the problem with Wasim Akram ?, did he have such a major fallout with PCB he has groomed Pathan (fair enough) but has not actually came back to in a coaching capacity. Either way the PCB have to call him back. Where did Waqar go after his stint as coach ?

I don't think it was a fallout. I think the PCB is to blame because Waqar was coach and at that time Pakistan bowlers were doing quite well and just before the tour of South Africa, which was in SA, he went to Hajj and because of that they sacked him. PCB are bunch of muppets. He was back in time for the tour only to be told they no longer required his services. As for Akram, he has helped the Indian left-armers i.e. Pathan, RP Singh etc. There is nothing wrong with that, however he can also help the Pakistan bowlers like Samiullah who has a few minor flaws and Sohail Tanvir and other left armers

Well there different opinions from every one about the future pakistani players or future of Pakistan cricket team in the world.
We have to pay equal attention on every aspect of the system, like, domestic cricket, international cricket, use of science in this profession, other skills of the player.
What i mean by the other skills of the player is not only his cricket talent but also
-better communicator he is
-good attitude that player has
-the ability to guide the junior player
-the ability to take responsibilty, making crucial decision, thinking positive
-feel pride to be pakistani player
In the past we have big names (esp in 1970's)but those names did not have such attributes
Only two name which come in the mind of Pakistanis are Imaran Khan and Jave Miandad
they are the one's who took Pakistan cricket to its highest level and also created future Pakistani heroes(Waseem, Waqar, Aaqib,Saed,Inzi, Moen. We can make the list of the qualities of these 2 Players and use as parameter in order to judge the ability of not only as player for the team but also to judge and make the captain of the team
