'I concede you need to have a certain amount of self-belief to be successful in sport. Why is this so twisted at Highbury? I don't understand.'(a) Dan, we're at the Emirates now, not Highbury....(b) Here, I must speak in defence of Arsenal. I think most football teams that have some success these days are seen by fans of other, perhaps less successful teams (and that's not a dig) of having a twisted or over-emphasised confidence factor. I see similar opinions on a regular basis about Man U and Chelsea. I do think some of the EXCESSIVE posturing by some Spurs fans after this result equally 'twisted' but that's how it happens and we just have to live with it.(c) Who knows, maybe I'm not a true 'fan'. I mean, it's not as though I can get to games living on a Scottish island (I was born in London and did go when Arsenal were at Highbury) but I can at least recognise when Arsenal have been outplayed and well beaten, regardless of the opposition. Quite easy to do so, because it doesn't happen too often!

Oh yes yes the Emirates, my bad. Showing my complete ignorance there. I'll give you that one. You're right, I AM extremely biased in this instance being a Spurs fans. But I really don't hate Arsenal for the sake of hating them. You did come across as a bunch undisciplined kids, to the extent that two of your OWN players were having handbags on an attacking set piece.Hoyte's tackle on Keane was borderline red. Had it not been a game with such intense rivalry I could see (and have seen) them given for a lot less.I was just pleased we decided to come out and play some pretty football, get along with each other and refrain from trying to kick pieces out of the oppo.I don't hate Arsenal Daripa, you seem to be hating each other enough on the pitch enough for me not to.
'I don't hate Arsenal Daripa, you seem to be hating each other enough on the pitch enough for me not to. 'What puzzles me is that Adebayor has seemingly apologised to the fans on the Arsenal website, but not (at least publicly) to Bendtner. Or even vice-versa. Still, if they hate each other's guts, there's probably no point making false apologies, I guess...Still, it's not like that altercation was in the Franny Lee/Norman Hunter class
I think everyone would agree that as Hunter was a Leeds player - he probably deserved it.Whatever the issue, I think some hatchet burying is in order.Adebayor is no doubt a talent, as was evident with the goal and Bendtner, if un-experienced has enormous potential.Just try not to start turning you players into the Bartons and Bowyers of this world. It was extremely amusing though.
'Whatever the issue, I think some hatchet burying is in order.'Blimey, it starts with a smack on the nose and now you're suggesting using hatchets!
People should stop complaining about this being a reserve side for arsenal, because it wasnt at all. Granted Cesc, Adebayor, etc and so forth did not start, but look at who did..Gallas, sagna, hleb, cesc after 15 mins, come on...5-1 is a DRUBBING of the highest quality. Maybe arsenal didnt want to play the potential three more games in the competition, but to ship 5 goals is really something, especially against spurs...if United lost 5-1 to City, I would disown them. embarassing really
We all know now what Juande Ramos is capable of achieving.
Yet again, Arsenal prove what terrible losers they are! And yet again Arsene Wenger claims he does not see an incident which to others was as large and theatrical as if a nude stilt-walker juggling flaming torches had come onto the pitch. However rarely it may happen - to accept a massive defeat by a rival team with grace and humility is one of the signs of true champions. "On connait bien ce genre de type...."
well done spurs, truly deserved your win. last night has 2 b up there with the 6-1 loss to utd, 3-0 loss to inter, or 4-1 loss to liverpool...very humiliating. we have no excuses for losing, especially in the manner we lost. wenger completely underestimated you, gallas seemed set on keeping up his 5-1 losing streak against spurs in carling cup semis () and fabregas took the liberty to become they adebayour of last season, a striker, with the eye for the stands. dont know what cesc was at last night, dont remember seeing hleb last night, the hole team was terrible. only positive is adebayour was on excellent form for the 20 odd minutes he played.however this is taking nothing away from spurs, dawson (who i dont rate at all) was excellent, jenas was without doubt man of the match, and keane once again played brilliantly.good luck to you spurs, i know we shouldnt wish our rivals good fortune, but a performance like that is worthy of winning the carling cup, and what would make it better is you would win vs the chavs
I don't know what other Arsenal fans are saying...but I for one am not going to be a sore loser and try to justify what happened. We were crap basically...don't fully understand why that was, but we were.Whatever about losing...but getting hammered with some of our best players there really is no excuse. So fair play to Spurs. But that said, I could never disown the Arsenal...they're a part of me!
