I predict SA win by 6 wickets! And that Duminy (or whatever his name is, I can't be bother to go and check) will hit 79 or so...

Likewise I predict they'll win with 2 overs to spare.

I recall the great calypso days of WI cricket when they were the standard against which every nation hoped to measure up to. Today, they are slightly better than an English county side!sadface

Let's not exaggerate now....
erm
Yes, the Windies are not as strong as they used to be.

Yes, in the recent past, even with Lara in the team, they used to be abysmal.

But they did win the first Test at Port Elizabeth. And they werre reasonably competitive in this first ODI, until Duminy took the game away from them.

I doubt an English county side could've done that to South Africa!

I'm an SA fan but I have to say that the windies are not weak. We saw how dangrous they can be when given an opportunity. I hope and pray that the Windies get back to their winning ways because they were once the rulers of world cricket.

There is stil hope for the Windies!!! Lara retired too early. I also think that when making the decision to retire, he was only thinking of himself and not the team. I still think the Windies needed lara. The same thing would happen if Kallis decided to retire from the South African team.

Yes, I agree, Brian retired way too early! Sadly, he allowed his ego to get the best of him.

From what appears to be the case, he was not a leader nor was he very diplomatic, either. It is often said he rubbed many of his team-mates the wrong way. As such, he should not have accepted the captaincy, and could have best served his team in the role as a premier batsman.

He certainly had the ability to turn a game around in no time. West Indies certainly would have been more competitive in England last summer with him on the team. Today, no one appears to have the temperament to occupy the crease for any length of time to play supporting role to Chanderpaul.

I, too, would like to see the Windies return to the great glory days of yore! <peacdove>.

Those days will never come back if we keep heading in the direction we are now. I'd bet my life savings we would never see Holding, Lloyd, Richard, or any of the greats partying on the mound at Sabina after an embarrassing defeat. The players today lack all self motivation, pride and work ethic that made those players of the past greats. We need to pay by performance now to communicate with them the only way cricketers seem understand these days. If the draconian WIPA has a problem with it then boot all players associated with WIPA and start fresh, we can generate losses without those players so nothing will change for the worse. We will be making a change that can alter the future in the long term for the better.
