Chelsea V Birmingham

A decent team selection by Chelsea. A pity Pizarro has come on, since he doesn't seem to bring much to the side.

At nil, nil, it looks like a tough match, and the sort that in the past would need a Frank Lampard goal to break the deadlock, and come away with three points. Can Chelsea produce the goods with so many key players missing?

Come on you blues! (yellows) - as they're playing away.

we have seemed to have a bit of trouble with the Birmingham clubs this season so I'm pleased with the result. We're not clicking as a team yet but with our natural leaders in JT and Lamps coming back we should see our performances pick up. What matters is that even though we're not playing particularly well we're still winning.

I agree with shimmy, we are in a great poaition considering our performances have been so disjointed. We should move up a gear by the end of January. United and Arsenal are definitely beatable and they have to play each other. We are in a better position than last season despite the absentees.

I cant believe Avram Grant sais they deserved to win, but what do you expect from a man who looks like he is on deaths door!! Well played the REAL blues and McFadden looked good when he came on.

I suppose the article was at half time. It was a hard match played in dismal conditions and games at City ground usually are. Pizarro worked hard - it is easier for him if he plays off another striker which is no doubt what he has always done. He admitted afterwards that the club is short of strikers at the moment. He seems a pleasant chap = I never doubted it. He is not good enough at this level but he took his goal well and i won;t complain about that.

Thats true Dale, people won't remember who played well only the team that won! If these victories bring us the title we will remember the victory over Birmingham to have been every bit as significant as that over Man City.

I'm a Motherwell fan and remember Mcfadden's debut for us at Left Back. 'Terrible player' I said to my mate next to me, 'Won't last the season!'. Two weeks later he was played as a striker and won man of the match! What a player you have on your hands there. When he gets a real run of games there will be no stopping him. I think his workrate is also under-rated, i've never witnessed anyone to care so much about winning than this young man. All the best for the rest of the season too.
