European
comment on the article

Get your calculators ready, it's the final weekend of the Heineken Cup and all eight quarter-final places are still up for grabs.

With the six groups finely poised, it is bound to be a tense weekend for fans of the 15 teams still in with a shout of making it.

Here are the permutations for each group: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rug...

Who do you think will qualify and what will the quarter-final line-up look like?

Just to let you know that you can follow all the action on the BBC Sport website with our live text commentaries this weekend.

Typical comment from Lawrence finger-in-the -eye, always the poor loser. good to see Lonon Irish in but I reckon this is as far as they go. Outside of that, anybody's guess for semis.

Oh and glad to see the back of bristol and their negative rugby (found Will Greenwood praising bristols negativity in the first half against Stade last week as typical of the rubbish he normally talks)based solely on forwards slowing the game down - funnily enough reminds me of England - bring on the new rules!!

Quite correct on the tiebreaker between groups. They should discount bonus points in those decisions. It happened lat year to allow Northampton to qualify for the quarters over the Ospreys. Northampton's group was of course laughably easy, the Ospreys was difficult. That may not be the case this year where it's arguable either way who had the tougher group but that's moot. Bonus points are only a fair comparison between 2 teams if those 2 teams have played the same opposition which is why they work fine for leagues and for the inter group comparison but why they fall down so badly the rest of the time. I'm with the previous poster, in the event of a tie on points the first tiebreaker should be a count back where they look at win/loss/draw.

Bluesjosh, you sound like all those moaners from Leicester and others club that have been eliminated: at least Cardiff weren't knocked out. The rules were there for everyone before the tournament started and Martin Williams is quoted as saying: "we knew the situation and that we had to score one more try." They decided to kick away possession in the second half, rather than go for the try. If they had gone for the try, it would have made it a more open game, as the rules were designed to do. I've had enough of up-your-jumper winning rugby. The present rules rule OK!

Enjoy the trip to Toulouse; it'll make a great change from the recent gloomy downpours in Wales and the West.

"Allez les Bleus!"

There are actually two Irish clubs in the last eight as we are claiming London Irish and looking forward to a Munster-London Irish final.

Best bit of the whole of this weekends rugby for me -- Nigel Owens sending of Dallaglio, just the icing on the cake for those passionate Munster fans . Well done the Blues- fantastic play by Martyn Williams- yet again , Come on Cardiff!!!!!!!!

The Heineken Cup wants to sort itself out! The group winner should get a guaranteed home tie! I know the numbers don't add up, but something needs to be done!
Why not have a 2 leg QF, home and away!

I think the only fair thing, and to ensure the best sides actually make it to the Quarter Final, not just the teams who have easier groups, ERC need to have an extra round between the groups and the Quarter Finals. The best 4 group winners get a bye into the Quarters and the 6 runners up and the 2 worst group winners play each other for the right to travel to the 4 best group winners grounds for the Quarters. Also when seeding teams for the group stages the ERC should not count bonus points scored within the group. As I said, bonus points are only fair if the 2 teams being compared have faced the same opposition.

Great competition and everyone knows the rules at outset. It really is tedious listening to the constant stream of complaints and anti English sentiment from the Welsh.
