KEEGAN FACES OWEN ISSUE

Premier League Newcastle United

Following the sensational return of Kevin Keegan, there is a Michael Owen issue to be dealt with in number one priority.

Michael Owen had hardly complaint of his former managers, perhaps with the exception of Kevin Keegan in his days of England manager.

As deployed up front to hold up the ball for Alan Shearer, Owen was frustrated at this unfamilar supporting role and claimed to be treated unfairly.

So, if once again asked to play in a less favourite position by his new boss, How would Michael Owen respond?

In my opinion, Newcastle had better sorted it out as soon as possible.

Owen's peak days are over I'm afraid. Although I felt Liverpool sold him for a song and a dance to Real Madrid, where he made the occasional impact, I wasn't sad to see him leave LFC back then, and Real in turn did some seriously good business ripping Newcastle off for a cool 17 mil.

Let's face it, Michael has been injury prone for the majority of his career now. He's not world class now, hasn't been for years, and in his prodigy years when perhaps he was, he was very reliant on that amazing burst of speed.

Nevertheless, he is still a natural born striker, and if he could be playing, injury free and consistently, he'll continue to score.

Ironically working under Keegan maybe what he needs this time around. Back in '99/00 Owen was pants for England in that Euro championship, and the 19/20 year Michael was pissed off at a perhaps over-zealous Kev for most likely hauling him up big time about it.

Don't forget in the '98 World Cup, the 18 year old Michael Owen was a revelation to the world, the world was going to be his oyster, so his childlike ego got a right old battering.

Now that Owen is approaching his autumn years in his career, I think he will be more mature about it, and can learn off one of the greatest strikers England has ever produced, ie Kevin Keegan.

In turn, I think that Keegan is big enough to let bygones be bygones, and realise that if Owen isn't on the physios table as usual, and is actually available to play, he could motivate him the right way this time aound.

On the question of leaving, where else could Owen go? Liverpool won't want him, and certainly not the others of the so called big 4. No...if he stays in England, he's better off staying at Newcastle, and doing his damnest to prove that NUFC weren't ripped off by Real Madrid for that 17 mil.

They wouldnt bring him back because he left the club when the expectations given were that he was due to sign then opted for Real Madrid when they came at the 11th hour.

Vinegar flavours the chips, you have little taste.

And for anyone, when did this happen: "I can remember working in Liverpool before Celtic hammered them in the UEFA cup."

i know this is not strictly about the owen thing, but after eadin the forum yesterday regarding KK's return,a a neutral (I'm not even Englsh),what is football about?Entertainment.Pure and simple. So for me,KK's return to manage Newcastle caonlymeanmore entertainment surely.Do we want managers like him,or do we want to be subjected to games like Man City-West Ham last night.I'd rather see 20 KK's managing in the Prem than the likes of Allardyce and their long ball rubbish.Bring on the entertainers.

owen is a great player...better than "rubbish" rooney

Funniest thing I've read all day! But I don't think there will be any serious problems between them. I mean Roy Keane didn't have the greatest relationships with Richardson but signed him and forgot about the past, so i think Keegan & Owen will just kiss & make up. If this doesn't happen however I don't see Owen going to any of the big 4 teams as he wouldn't make it in the staring XI.

Ok, so what is the reason why Owen would never go to Chelsea?
Some say he would not make the starting 11.
I would argue that playing less games might be an advantage to a player who's body can't stand up to the week in week out pressures of the league. Chelsea are in enough competitions to give him just enough to keep him hungry, and fit, and to provide him with football in Europe, something Newcastle will never do. I am so confident he will end up there I am placing a bet on it.

No, he still trains in between visits to the race course.
Plus, he plays the odd game or two before going to lie on the couch. He even scores a goal now and then to make sure everyone knows he's still around and is up for it.
A true professional.

Do you think you're funny '4thecaptain'?

Because, i have news for you, you are not!!

'He even scores a goal now and then'

And thank God he does!! Becasue without his goals Englands, Euro campain, would have been even more pathetic without him as proved by the facts.

Is Owen ever in the headlines for having affairs, beating his wife, being drunk, falling out of nightclubs etc?

If not why do people have to find something to show that he has a 'flaw' (i.e. gambling)?

Does it make you feel better, because you can point out he's not perfect?

Do you admire ANYONE or is everybody 'beneath contempt' in your world?

I assume you are perfect, of course

Your last line is of 100% correct. Michael Owen is a true professional.

"if you look at Owen's NUFC performances and body language over the last 4 months, does he really look like he's happy?"

These forums are great but there are some disadvantages. Suddenly everyone is an expert in reading people's body language

Since when has Owen looked a 'bundle of joy' other than when he scores?

What do you expect him to do - crack a few one-liners at half-time?

there are some numpties on here saying michael owen is finished, ok granted, he does have his fair share of injuries but who doesnt, i can remember a season going past since the premiership started where Ryan Giggs wasnt out and he's still going, if you have the pace that these to have its inevitable that they are going to get injuries, then the Cruciate ligaments is just unlucky, it not down to poor fitness..... dont tell me that you think owen is worse than Kuyt Crouch or Voronin or Bellamy or Cisse all strikers that are at anfield now or have been since he left......saying he's finished at 27 is typical of the fools on this 606 board you make them heros one minute then beat them down the next.... any one for a dose of common sense on here.... no didnt think so !!!!
