Wild and wacky ski resorts

comment on the article

Where is the most unusual or remote place you have ever skied or snowboarded?

The reason I ask is because Ski Sunday presenter Ed Leigh has been having an interesting time riding in far flung places such as Siberia, the Himalayas and Morocco to name but a few.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/oth...

His snowboarding journey will be shown each week on Ski Sunday, which starts on 20 January for an eight-week series.

So I am interested in where you have been skiing and what the experience was like and any tips you can share with fellow enthusiasts on where to go for an unusual holiday - or where not to for that matter.

I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to back country skiing and tend to stick to ski resorts.

But I do know a mate who went to Iran to ride, had a fab time and got a strange liking for fizzy Yak's milk, which was pink!

Iran is quite a popular one, If you look on the FIS website you have professional races there and big resorts. You also have resorts in Turkey, Cyprus and Georgia. You used to be able to ski in India but i'm not sure what thats like now

There is great snow from mid January to March in the himalayas of Kashmir northern India. I know a few people who have been and they reckon it is the nuts. That said, I am told there is some risk to westerners from terrorists though I have to say I can't find any evidence to support that.

Anna, I think you've perchance stumbled in the wrong category - see the top - it says winter "sport", not lifestyle, not travel, not "how to teach a celebrity". By all means find your wild and wacky ski resorts and blow the BBC budget of another department, but please don't mess with what little sports budget the BBC has left to get wild & wacky with it.
