Warne gambles on poker career

Hampshire
comment on the article

Shane Warne will miss the start of the new cricket season after deciding to embark on a new career in poker.

He says he will try to fit in the poker tournaments around his cricket but will inevitably miss some action for Hampshire.

What do you think of Warne's decision.

Is there any way that he could play the poker games via an online conference webcam from the various dressing rooms he goes to and so combine the two as he needs to do something to fill those long boring times when you're waiting to come into bat??!!

Surely this poker company having gotten a huge worldwide draw in Warne would bend over backwards like this to keep him on board?

Then if he was suddenly called to the wicket after a collapse of wickets the game could be suspended like a cliffhanger in a soap opera or another top star could come in as his substitute.

As he's an ace texter maybe he could be updated out in the middle and get back to people between balls/overs??!!

Could he have a runner?

I recall once upon a time Allan Lamb taking his phone out to the middle so there is a precedent kind of!!

Please feel sorry for Hampshire CCC. Time to say goodbye to Warney. Obviously treating Hampshire as a part time hobby. How many games will he play this season then? Very few i fear, But still on the full contract. Replace him with a young 18 year old ENGLISH cricketer now thank you.

"pity he forgot the link then."

He didnt forget the link. He was linking out of his article to the discussion board not the other way around.

Would you like this explained again in even more simple terms?

Doesn't it just go to show what a laughing stock Hampshire Cricket is? When they became a PLC they should of kept "Club" instead of "Cricket".

Sack the board, the management (who'd rather be in Perth), captain and hangers on. Get a role model overseas and have some pride in playing for Hampshire.

Good luck to Sussex for 2008, despite a lack of resource, big names it is wonderful to see a committed overseas player in a team full of english qualified players from the county.

Hampshire Cricket might find a championship winning formula slightly closer to home than Perth.

I agree, Hants need commited players who will be role-models for younger players.

Hants need someone like Mushtaq Ahmed who is a great player who is commited to the club and helping helping the youngsters with every aspect of the game.

Warnie's been combining cricket and 'Poke'er' for years! It's just a matter of time before Hampshire snap and run out of patience or maybe they'll find someone to bridge the gap.

I am a huge Warnie fan, but I am very cheesed off about this. However, Hampshire say that already have a replacement lined up. Could this be another one of Warnies Ozzy friends again, like Stuart Clark last year?

Warne seems to be taking mickey here. If I was Bransgrove, I'd ditch Warne now and start looking for another overseas player.
