Chelsea have agreed terms with Lokomotiv Moscow to sign defender Branislav Ivanovic and are set to complete a deal worth almost £9m.

I think this is a good deal also signing, but are we supposed to be signing full back Douglas Maicon as well from Inter Milan.

Splashing the Abramovic cash again. Shame Chelsea can't do well without it. Plenty of clubs have smaller squads and far less money, this greed for players just limits the competition. I think there should be squad size limits and caps on money spent. Chelsea keep saying they intend to balance the books - just when might that happen?
----------------

Tell me what club do not spend big? you must be a liverpool fans or gunner. Is 10mil too much for a player of his quality? he even said it himself that he will not praise himself but people will see his game AND WOULD RATE HIM,to me he knows he's a great player but doesn't want to be proud but his comment says it all and i can see the confidence in it.Dn't forget chelsea beat many teams to get him and i believe the russian connection must had brought him here not bcos of the money.United wanted him and Vidic could have been a bait to get him as his partner internationally.

United spend big also..... Carrick(16.5mils),Nani(17mils),Anderson(17mils),Fedinand(30mil for a defender even at leeds),Tevez( over 20mil),hegreaves(over 15mil),(Ronaldo at 17 over 16mil),is it vidic? to name a few and the list will keep growing.Barca and Real even Milan are another big time spenders, even Inter proved that recently if you want me to give you the price list and dont forget pato at 17 and not proved himself at the top cost 17mil dollars and Robinho then for real also. so don't make us look like the only spenders, else there would not be take overs at clubs.I know at other country they don't complain like that except here with the stupid rivals around, must every club spend equally?must every club have same orientation? some have money but don't have that spending big orientation, why some pretend not to be spending or buying but go around to steal the best young talent and buy them peanut and when they want to sell they still sale them very very costly. You accuse a club for spending big but a club would sale a player they bought at 500.000 for 25mil and he's only 20 means they still encourage spending big. It's an open market, just like any other market it's left for you to price and buy and no one can question the saler, instead you walk away. When Madrid had galaticos infact they were the most expensive pursued club yet they didn't win league or champions league when they were all there together, barca didn't cry about their spending.Grow up british fans

Good signing, those complaining are affraid of competition. Man Utd are no longer tipped as sure bet for the EPL, Arsenal too feel threaten just bcos FA cup is no longer their birth rite, as for liverpool, CL spot is in doubt. Hey guys competition is the name of the game.

This is a great signing for us and I'm quite suprised that Lokomotiv didn't hold out for some more money for the guy. He can play all along the back and is still only 23 plus the Serbians themselves rate the guy as even better than Nemanja! With JT out for a while this a perfect signing for the Blues and I for one don't have any problems with any of Avram's signings thus far.

Chelsea have to be ruthless in their approach to every match, let united adopt their cavalier style, but once Chelsea get within whispering distance United will start to wobble. Chelsea despite all their recent turmoil have managed thus far to stay very close to a United team in full flow and with very little injury woes, They may yet suffer a dip and when they do Fergie will have to encourage his fans to sing a little louder and that includes the 5000 Mancunians inside Old Trafford! As for Arsenal They will lose six points on their travels to the aforementioned teams, Title will be decided by three or less points....If Drogba wants to go let him! no one is bigger than the club, but I believe he will stay if wins P.L. title or C.L

i think if Chelsea defenders keep on getting red cards and getting injured, they do need a central defender who is capable of shifting left and right at the same time occupying the center back position. i think he'd do well with Terry, Carvalho, Alex and Cole.

Avram seems to be better than Jose.

its good that chelsea have signed a defender because as a team they havent been defending that well. Ivanovic will be a boost for chelsea. Avram, must now work on entire team's defence, which is the weakest of the premiership's top 3 teams. Avram is not better than jose, let him win something first or beat a big team...
