Houllier for Newcastle?

Premier League Newcastle United
comment on the article

It appears Gerard Houllier could be on his way to Newcastle after no other big names seem to want the job. I know he's tactically very good but his transfer policies leave a lot to be desired. I also get the feeling he lacks a lot of charisma which Newcastle are crying out for.

Unbeleievable! Totally agree NewWinter07!

The dillusional muppett can't be reasoned with!

Ceej1979 for Newcastle manager! A match made in heaven! Surely the only person with the vision to appreciate this truly stellar club!

I'm off this guy has lost the plot!

Yes, that's why his manager, the teams players, and the teams fans were more than happy to kick him out of the club at the age of 33. Vital player.

Keane was just a cog, in a very expensive, succesful team. They would have won stuff whether he was there or not.

Shearer won games on his own.

-----------------------------------------------

What you mean all the games and trophys he won with Newcastle? good point ceej, good point

-----------------------------------------------

So it was Roy Keane, rather than the hundreds and hundreds of millions united have spent in the last decade that has won them trophies! hahaha

Even Newcastle, who have spent a lot, are small fry compared to what Utd have spent

-----------------------------------------------

Is that wot i sed there? i sed nothin about Keane there. Putting more words in my mouth again ceej.

And how long before we Celtic fans chanted "No Alan Shearer" at Parkhead?

The very next game!

He was never as complete a player as Larsson in 2000/2001 and he was even less complete then.

-----------------------------------------------

God almighty - A player who never did anything, in any league other than Scotland!

No offence, but he scored goals in a standard that allowed Rod Wallace to score 30 league goals in a season! If you put Peter Crouch in the championship then i'm sure he'd score 30.

He has never done anything, in a goal scoring sense, for any other team.

Alan Shearer scored over 100 league goals, in 3 seasons, in the hardest league in the world. Larsson wouldn't have scored 40 in the same period.

Also, if goals in Scottish football are the same as England, Italy, Germany etc, why do UEFA not count them so highly when they give out the golden boot?

Basically Larrson had to score 50 in order to just beat someone who scored 30 in Spain. If he had scored 38, then the spanish guy would have won it!

hahaha

Get in there!

I have to say, i'm not going to argue anymore, as I'm too happy! Keane is great - end of!

Keeeeeegan!

You have to realise what he did for the club when he took over. Promoted in his 1st season, first season in the premiership, 3rd.

Then 6th, 2nd, 2nd.

How many managers have 4 seasons in the premiership as 3rd, 6th, 2nd 2nd and then retire from the club!

Hook, line & sinker.......

You've blown it now ceej1979.

Henrik Larsson - "A player who never did anything, in any league other than Scotland!" - A player with two La Liga winners medals and a Champions League winners medal.

Not to mention his 3rd place at the World Cup, plus multiple international tournament appearances.
Or his International and European scoring records.

Yes, that's right; Henrik Larsson has achieved more than Alan Shearer both domestically and internationally.

And football is about more than just goals which is why Shearer has won squat since leaving Blackburn.
10 years without a trophy win, NO player could claim to be the best under those circumstances, certainly not with a straight face.

Also, I think you'll find the "hardest league" in the world is not the Premiership.

The hardest league in the world to score goals is and always has been Serie A.
The most competitive league is La Liga where 3 teams fight for the title until the seasons end and far more teams than in the Prem actually qualify for Europe over a 3 season period.

Not the same old names in the same old finishing positions.
The Premiership is (and always has been) a two horse race. Unlike the SPL, at least one of the horses changes every two years.

But it's still always two left with 10 games to go.

Well let's apply YOUR logic then:

53 goals for a Scottish team is still counted as higher than Alan Shearer's 30 for Newcastle.

If's, but's and maybe's eh?

As David Brent would say:
Larsson has more European goals and more winners medals than Alan Shearer - FACT.
