What the hell is going on here? Ramos has told Defoe he can leave!! Is this stupid or what? With have 4 strikers, one who will certainly leave come the summer and one who has done nothing to prove he can be an assest to us and we are trying to push a guy out who has proved he can perform for us and would stay for life if given the opportunity. I know some will say well if he wants to stay that much he would sign a new contract, fair enough but would you if you never got played and were told by the manager you can leave? This is only gonna end up badly for both player and club, Defoe wants to stay but only if he gets games and is wanted where as we want him to sign but won't play ball with him. We won't let him go on a free so we'll end up selling him near the end of his contract for peanuts, what a great idea!! NOT. So in the summer we could in theory be in the market for 3 strikers, no doubt they will all be foreigners who we improve as players and end up fighting to keep them at the club after just a season. Honestly, I know people will doubt Defoe's motives but the truth is, if he really didn't want to be at the club that he says he loves he could leave tomorrow. If we let him go then we really are losing the plot. Sort it out Spurs..

This is insanity. Defoe's goalscoring record can't be ignored, and week on week you can almost guarantee he'll find the target when other strikers fall short. Stay Jermain - you're good for the club.

I feel a little sorry for Defoe, he is in a squad that has excellent strikers. Keane and Berbatov in particular are great strikers. Defoe's goal record is actually better then that of Andy Johnson at Everton for example so he is quality but is he quality enough??

I'll give you an example, Berbatov has played 254 career games and scored 117 goals. Defoe has played 259 games and scored 90 goals (Got info from google). Defoe is not a hold up player, he doesnt create a huge amount of chances for others and from the stats provided he does score as much as others. Defoe is a good player, but like Johnson he isn't good enough for a REALLY BIG club ( no disrespect to Spurs and Everton).

Spurs are as high as this guy can go, maybe thats why he doesnt want to leave??

Almost certain unless he moves abroad which would obviously involve a settling period (See Eduardo Da Silva) even with renewed competition, even accounting for the fact that sides above them will lose strikers to the African Nations Cup, he'd struggle to get on the bench as regularly as he would at Spurs.

Everton, Man City, Blackburn, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Reading have enough goalscoring strikers on their books.

I don't think he'd suit the Villa game either, or return to West Ham.

You're talking the likes of Sunderland and Middlesborough here... and then only on loan here.

I don't think Defoe would want to go to these sides on loan because a) it may help a rival club nick an inter-toto cup spot or move Spurs closer to the relegation zone (if he delivers) b) such a loan wouldn't lead to a permanent deal. c) He'd probably be dropped at Boro when Mido get's back winkeye

I'd like Defoe at Chelsea, actually. If we got rid of Pizzaro, then we'd have Anelka, Drogba, Defoe, Shevchenko and Kalou. He could really boost our depth up front.

Spurs were magnificent tonight, outplayed Arsenal for 75 or 80 minutes (Walcott's goal went in off his hand, the action replay showed) but Malbranche had two chances in front of goal (okay, he's getting older and by the time the move reaches the posts he is getting tired) which were wasted. 'Other than that', he did well.

When Defoe came on, and didn't commit to the great chance he had, the look on his face said it all. And, what a chance to prove the manager wrong, if that's what he wanted to do. (Young O'Hara and Bale (injured) are key players for Spurs future.)

By the way, MANU fans who say United would play Defoe must be losing it. As for that Spurs fan who doesn't "like Berbatov", you might want to think about that. Not liking your best striker? I cannot (sincerely) understand this kind of thinking. Do you support the club or don't you (and no, I'm not a Spurs fan.) -Anywaaaay.

Portsmouth or Aston Villa will be where he ends up probably in the summer when he gives up on trying to win a first team place and despite Berbatov leaving, he is replaced by some foreigner. Even though he would only have 1 year left on his contract he would probably command a fee of £6-7 million. And to Tevez belongs to Jesus- do you seriously think Reading would turn someone like Defoe down??

Defoe is a total toss pot did you see the hair cut(or not) if he wants to be different why doesn't he score that would make a change he's another nearly man? nearly got the ball?, nearly scored the goal? nearly made the pass etc etc etc etc. another legend in his own mind.
