Premier League Bolton Wanderers

comment on the article

Reports suggest that the France international, who becomes Avram Grant's first signing as Chelsea manager, has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with The Blues.

Grant had been keen to seal Anelka's switch to Stamford Bridge before Saturday's clash with Tottenham as the Israeli is without Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, who are away at the African Nations Cup, and Andrei Shevchenko (ankle).

15 milll

Bolton fans is this good money or would you rather keep him?

I don't think 1 in 3 is great at all, you don't get much more with Nic than the goals, he's not great with assists. For 16 mill they could have got Henry except he would have never played for you. Chelsea is easy money - good luck to Nic he may recoup some of what his brothers took from him. Incidentally did you not read or hear him saying his biggest regret was leaving Arsenal but they wouldn't take him back because AW knows his stuff. Like I said Man. City and Arsenal had the best out of him.

Time will tell my friend, but as a Chelsea fan, I can assure you that I am excited by this signing.

Perhaps the position in May will tell us more about value for money.

ok

I do wonder why Liverpool didnt keep him when they had the chance..Anelka and Torres up front now would have been a great partnership..

I doubt he would have gone to chelsea from there!

great business from bolton as we double our money, but at what cost?!

if we would have had nic setting up chances for nic, we'd be much higher up the league!

he will score goals for chelsea and it is exactly what they need, other than drogba they have no goals in them (forwards only before i get abuse, luckily your mid scores lots)

Can't see the likes of kalou getting back in the team now and shev will go at the end of the season

You guys, do you really think this is that simple? i.e Bolton hang in there for 20 million just because everyone knows Chelski have the cash? You have to be careful, there is a line drawn and while they will probably pay up to 15 million for the French sulking machine then the back end of that will probably be loaded with if's, but's and maybe clauses......Bolton do not want to end up with this sulking Frenchman on their hands when he knows the CL and West End of London await. Chelski will get their man (when don't they) but it may not be for the inflated prices the Bolton fans hope for, therefore it may not be a win, win.

---------------------------------------

I hate to say I told you so, but well err....I told you so. To all those Bolton fans thinking they would get 20+ million.....get a reality check. You have just taken a huge gamble that the players you already have will take you past 40 point mark. Chelski on the other hand have possibly bought the player to keep them in the title race. Whoever mentioned 15 million is too much for a 28 year old needs their head testing, he's at his "peak" you numpty (well actually I do believe all transfer fee's are way to much but that's a different matter)......

Next time any of you lot want to know how much a player is going for then give me a shout!

15m is certainly the price that the Bolton Board have put on us leaving the Prem .. I would gladly have kept him, stayed up and then looked again at the situation again at the end of the season ....

KingTevez, what a conceited bufoon you are. not many Bolton fans thought they would get £20 million for Anelka but they knew he was worth more than the would be thief, Grant, was offering for him. £15 million is a fair price and no I won't be seeking any advise from you.

fistofthegang, when you take away the buying price, his wages and his cut of the fee,I assume he did not hand in a written transfer request, what are we left with? certainly not £15 million. More like £3-4 million. Not a lot for your premiership status.

I would have fully expected, even if Anelka had stayed, that Bolton would have needed to spend a minimum of 5m in Jan to bring in a couple of decent defenders.

Now of course, I'm expecting that Megson will have that 5m, plus 15m .... Yay! 20 million to spend in the next 3 weeks !!!!

Surely that MUST be right? winkeye

OK (big breath), here goes:

Firstly, I cannot see anything other than Anelka being a quality signing for us and i expect him to cement a place in our starting 11, even when Drogba returns. Secondly, and most importantly, it's ironic that the same people who criticised us for paying £30m for Andriy Shevchenko are now criticising us for paying £15m for Anelka. Hold on a second, £15m for a proven Premiership-class player compared with £30m for Shevchenko looks like a bargain to me. Any other view is just jealousy from rival clubs' supporters, full stop.
Thirdly, and I'm going to write this bit in CAPS so everyone can see.....UNLESS ANELKA'S BROTHER HAS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT NAME, THEN HIS BROTHER IS NO LONGER HIS AGENT. THE NAME OF ANELKA'S AGENT IS DOUG PINGISI - if that's his brother then I'm a Man Utd fan. Therefore, anyone who's claiming that the purpose of this transfer is a money-spinning venture by Nicolas' brother, i believe those people have just been CLAMPED. Whether rival clubs like it or not, Nicolas Anelka is a quality player, and i detect more than a touch of jealousy from people around here.I fully expect Anelka to quickly become an integralpart of our squad, and i won't be slow to say I told you so.
