Premier League Sunderland

Knocked out of the League Cup 3-0 v Luton Town.

Knocked out of the FA Cup by Wigan Athletic.

Premiership - going down.

Sunderland AFC - what a joke.

Kids 1 v Wigan FA Cup. I wouldn't have paid 10p to watch that garbage today. Even adults paying 15 today have been done.
Sunderland fans do not deserve this sh1 te!! Can you tell me where the commitment was today. Our performances in the league are abysmal so surely a reasonable FA Cup run was not too much to ask. Our team is a disgrace. Don't tell me Mr Keane is "concentrating on the league"!! He needs to sort it out and buy some 'quality players' to at least try and salvage our Premiership position. I am starting to lose my patience with him.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Keane here. Wigan are a strong side that have a habit of getting a win when you least expect it.

I've been genuinely impressed by the fact Keane's been able to get them promoted in his first season in charge (and his first season in management!). Whilst I think you're in need of a few good signings and a bit more luck, I think you've done very well this season and it would be a shame to see you go down - thats some praise coming from a geordie ;)

Chin up lads, you're going through a bit of a rough patch, but your manager has got you this far, stick with him and don't do what a stupid majority of our lot are doing by calling for the manager's head. I hope you stay up this season because there's nowt like derby day!

Brilliant result for Wigan. First away win of this season and a comfortable one. Sunderland still yet to beat us and even score a goal against us in the top flight.

Keano will get it right . It's the premiership, it's a very tough league. Sunderland and keane are going to need time to get used to it. He's done wonders already with let's face it a championship team who are playing in a league above themselves. It will take time

The sooner Russell Anderson gets into the team instead of that donkey jobsworthy the better. The defence needs a leader, someone who can organise the back 4 & isn't afraid to put it about - Russell is the man for the job.

Roy Keane's disgraceful attitude while playing for Ireland at the world cup does nothing to get the necessary respect from the Sunderland players which is a must for any sucessful club. Keane's style of play was sucessful for him in his day, but has no place in todays game. If the Sunderland management have any guts they would sack him now before it's too late.

i dare say youre a aberdeen fan, i cant wait for anderson to come back but leave of nyron, he and collins have been by far the best defenders we have had this season and if nuggsy didnt have 2 months out i dont think disasters like everton would have happened

I think there needs to be some expenditure in the back line. You invested in a great keeper but you don't have the organisation or maybe the players needed in defence. Every time I read about or watch a Sunderland loss, the back 4 commit many (and a lot of them huge) errors and allow players into bucket loads of space... Gordon's a great keeper, but he's not Superman! You also need a good finisher.

I must admit that I have only been following them to see how Gordon does after his move and I think he should have waited and gone to a club with better organisation or players in the back 4. Still, as they say, it's a game of two halves and there are only 3 points separating Bolton at 14 and Sunderland at 18... still all to play for.

Hope results in the New Year are more favourable for you.

Season isnt over yet chaps, hang on in there, your only just in the relegation zone and level on points with Wigan, a string of 2 or 3 victories will bring you's safely away from the drop, FA Cup should not be number 1 priority at the minute anyway.
