Your thoughts, will Serena win more titles this year? Will she challenge Henin more in the Grand Slams, and can she get back to top 3 or even No. 1? Or will she quite simply flop with injury yet again?

I've always thought that to be great in tennis, one had to be above all, consistently good. Serena Williams is alot of things, a champion, a power player, a fighter, but she's not consistently good. She's still one of the best players ever. I think she'll make some noise at the hard court GSs, but I don't see a Slam for her this year. Then again, I definitely didn't expect a GS last year.

'Hopefully we will see a lot more of Sharapova this year.....if you know what i mean...'

How this has any relevance to the attached article and the questions asked I don’t know. However, yes let’s hope Sharapova has a better season this year.

Apparently Serena is in much better shape this year. If so then I can see her winning a grand slam or two. Having seen some photos of her in Perth she looks much slimmer. I watched her AO 07 final against Sharapova and she was big. At least she’s toned down.

I wouldnt write Serena off if she is fit and injury free.....

I still think she has the game to beat anyone on the tour.

The AO is going to be very interesting.

Serena needs to be a lot more mobile to have a proper crack at the French Open and Wimbledon IMO, but on fast hardcourt she has proven too many times that she can never be written off as last year showed. One difference this year is that Henin will be playing in the AO so I don't expect a repeat of Serena's heroics however she certainly surprised everyone last year so who knows.

Venus has a better chance at Wimbledon as always and I expect the USO to be more hotly contested as the surface appears to suit the majority of the normal contenders. We've yet to see how the new surface at the AO plays out but it will get faster as its played in so good chances for a few contenders perhaps but particularly for Serena who appears to be fitter than last year.

I agree with duggietoo - she certainly has the tools but it's not just about having the right weapons, Serena is a winner and for me that counts for a whole lot more as last year showed against Petrova and Peer.Mauresmo backs up this proposition.

I am absolutely delighted to see Serena going for it she is the best in the world for me if not on paper. I don't think she will do well in France but on a fast court she is deadly and really need to see how quick the AO open is. I agree with RQ she is a winner and proved it on more than one occasion. She has been enjoying her success off the court with all the trappings that come with it, if you think about it it's only natural when you come from nothing and then have everything you want you want to enjoy some of it. I think a lot of players will be fitter this year because of the big gold medal at stake and Serena will be one of them.

Alisa Molik is no great shakes and Serena had a tough match against her.

she is good at coming back , but I notice she exhausts very fast. Melbourne heat will take her stamina away.It would not be easy against Henin and Miss world Sarapova ( if that is what the tongue in cheek comment meant in the earlier post) .

So for me serena is the underdog for the open.

"Or will she quite simply flop with injury yet again?"
The injuries tend to appear during or after a defeat for some strange reason, and oddly can then disappear just as quickly.

If my Dear Serena can remain fit and free from injury, the only player to pose strategic problems will be Henin. If she deals with Henin's strategy we could be crowning her No. 1 this year.
