Stephen Hunt

comment on the article

Just seen on SSN that Reading have rejected an offical approach for Hunt from Sunderland.

Opening offer came in @ £2.5m

With Lily Savage apparently on his way & this offer being made, it looks like Keano is wanting to get his business done asap.

Any thoughts?

First of all, Reading isn't any better than Sunderland... They'll both be doing the relegation battle come the end of this year, "loyal royal", so don't act like you are big stuff.

Roy Keane is a good manager.

Your comment was as pathetic as anyone else's...

if hunt left to go to SUNDERLAND, i would be v. shocked

reading has better players and altho we haven't been amazing this year, i'm pretty confident we have the quality and team spirit to pull ourselves up the table smiley

it's players like hunt who help us win games with his non-stop hard work, and coppell would be really stupid to let him go

besides the way he's been playing this season has been amazing

reading's player of the season so far without a doubt

he's got a contract with us and as far as i'm concerned he seems pretty commited to that.

No one was claiming we had quality on both wings...But the fact you think Hunt is our best winger is kinda funny, hes v good but he was on bench for most of our championship season...COnvey the best winger we got and Little needs replacing..

M8 how is Hunt not our best winger, let alone best player!?!?! Yea so what if he didn't get many matches in the Championship? He's been easily our best player for the last 2 seasons in my opinion. He may not be the most skillful but his passion and drive is 5 times that of any other Premiership player.

He's an outstanding player, I don't think Reading will sell him, but if a bid of above £10m comes in I doubt the money-grabber Madejski will turn that down...but anything less than that is not worth it, he's worth at least £10m.

I would be gutted if Hunt left us for a team below us in the league, he has so much better prospects with us rather than Sunderland. He fits in perfectly with our squad and gels really well with the rest of the team. Hunt is going nowhere, he's a loyal royal !!!!

rrr1985 you are wrong. I have seen both SAFC and RFC this season and RFC are streets ahead in terms of class. They will not struggle as opposed to SAFC and the difference is the managers. Keane is NOT a good manager. He is unproven and clearly incapable of either motivating his players or persuading others to join him. Relegation looms.

oi rrr1985 u need to do ur research, Reading are alot better than Sunderland and a class above Sunderland. Keane has done well i admit but u are a bottom prem/top of champ side, we are midtable team and dont need to make loads of signings or big name players which prove we are a far superior side. you cannot even compare Sunderland to us anymore, we are being compared to teams like Newcastle, Spurs and other mid table teams. Birmingham have more chance of staying up by the looks of things than Sunderland.

Reading has been a mid-table team for what... one season? And how often do the tides shift in football? Exactly, I rest my case. Reading will be doing a relegation battle come the end of this season. As I stated before, they are no better than Sunderland, they are both going to be strugglers.

I just read your post... I think Sunderland's results today, and Reading's results yesterday, show just what sort of daylight is between the two teams. Reading is now only separated from Sunderland by 4 pts - which is not much, so before you say Reading is a top half of the table club, and Sunderland is a relegated team, maybe you should look at the table and the results both teams have been getting. Sunderland AFC just beat Portsmouth, a real top half of the club team.

Also, netsmith72, Roy Keane is a good manager, despite what you think or how you personally feel about him - Look at what he did last season with Sunderland, he took them from dead last in the table to riding on top for nearly the entire season, and I do believe they only lost once after the start of the new year, clear until the last game. So pray tell me, how is incapable of motivating his players? And I think you forget, Sunderland is a yo-yo team, not a lot of players are reluctant to leave Premiership clubs to join a yo-yo team. Also, since Keane's arrival, only TWO players have turned down Sunderland - Nugent (who SAFC actually pulled out of), and Baird (who wanted to live in London). Hunt has already said he'd join Sunderland, Matt Taylor said the prospect interested him... So how is he not attracting players?

Reading will probably sell Hunt regardless so they can afford a new defense. Reading are no better than Sunderland, and Reading's team will get split up - You have no real star players, but Sidwell smelled the money and ran, and so will all your other players before long, and it will be back to the Championship you go...

One good season and all the fans get retarded... good luck in your relegation battle, Reading. I will be rolling with laughter when Sunderland beats you.

you cant go by a bad run of form at the moment. our season doesnt evolve around a couple of games. (i hope)we have hit a bad patch atm and i saw the sunderland game yesterday and yes u played well but to be honest Pompy didnt turn up on the day. I was at Villa and omg we were rubbish. But i feel confident we will pull back some form and move swiftly back up the table. As for our players leaving. I dont think that any will be going anywhere at least not this season. Hunt is still contracted to us for a start and has said that he wants to stay. We just need to sign couple of defenders and we will be back on form.
