Still in shock over the tragic news, can't quite beleive it.

i'm a hoops fan and was thinking about his lung bursting runs, finishes that made him a great footballer. What's everyone's best memory of the big man?

Mine undoubtably was the 1996 Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Hibs.

Celtic were 2-1 up, it was getting tense but O'Donnel powered in a header to make it 3-1 and book our place in final. Superb goal from a superb player.

You're gone but not forgotten big man.

O'Donnell was immense in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the UEFA cup. That is my earliest memory of the player. I am just glad that in his lifetime he fulfilled the dream of playing for his boyhood heroes. Few deserved it more to pull on the hallowed green & white hoops.

Sheff Wed signed him as a midfielder but after relegation he played at left back and was pretty good. Our fans were just frustrated that he played 20 games in 4 years despite been on 20,000 a week.

He got a great send off at the Hull game today though. Rest in peice

Despuite, not being a Motherwell or even someone who knew/ heard of O'Donnell, it's terible that he died, whilst playing something he loved. O'Donnell will be remembered all over the UK forever for all his contributions to football.

I got back from another Shire defeat on Saturday and saw that appear on the news. Put the game into prespective.

A true model professional that everyone could look up to. It's just now fair.

RIP Phil.

A guy that commanded respect for the way he conducted himself both on & off the park !
our team play today but would rather game was cancelled as at the end of the day it is only a game concur with big Lee Wilkies take on SPL, most certainly United should not be made to play a meaningless game more so as they were the opposing team on that fateful day! Will be sorely missed by Scottish football but at this time thoughts are with his family & MFC
R.I.P

Best memory? Two Motherwell goals: his first senior goal in that Scottish Cup final, and a Zidanesque volley from the edge of the box against Hearts at Fir Park a couple of years ago that showed he was right back at his best.

We'll miss you big man.
