Anelka £10m?

Premier League Bolton Wanderers

Just saw Sky Sports Transfer News this morning and it reported that Anelka will move to Chelsea in January and that the clubs have agreed a £10 million deal. I am resigned to Anelka moving if one of the big four comes in, but £10 million is way under price! Consider that Darren Bent went for £16 million!! And remember that Anelka is one of the Premier League's top scorers this season.

Please tell me it's all just media speculation!

Gotta go - off to Sunderland now - C'mon You Whites!!!

Yawn!!. Same story was in papers weeks ago. Megson then came out and said there had been no offers and no contact..
You should accept (as many do) that the Media hate Bolton and they come up with silly stories about us just for fun. If Anelka goes then he goes and theres nothing we can do about it but I doubt very much any such deal has been "agreed", or indeed, there has been contact.
Anelka will always be linked with a big club because of the type of player he is but theres a difference between being linked and actually signing.
Time will tell...

i refuse to believe this nonsence untill its happened. Believe me, if he is to go at all, it will be at the end of the season. his heart is at bolton for now. and he wont change it in a month. so, even if he does think its a good idea then he wont have done it before the end of the season.

As I've said before .... Nik should not be going anywhere ... he's got over 3 years left on his contract, so Bolton are under no pressure to sell him - and shouldn't. Maybe Megson should do what Moyes has done over Arteta, and put a price tag on him ... in which case, that should be 25million - no talks allowed with any club until that price has been offered winkeye

That would put an end to all this stupid speculation smiley

25 million sounds good to me. Ideally Elk should stay but lets see what happens during Jan, anything is possible with Lord Darkside.

too true. 25 mill sounds right. but then again, shevchenko moved for 30.8 mill and Anelka is about three times better than him this season....

I heard it was 16 million. If he does leave for Chelsea, I wouldnt hold it against him. Just as long as we replace him with someone like Eidur Gudjohnsen or better yet, KEEP ANELKA AND BUY EIDUR!!

Anelka is worth 40m to Bolton currently and we should not sell for a penny less.

" If he does leave for Chelsea, I wouldnt hold it against him "

Well I bl**dy would .. grr and against the Board as well, if they sell the club and the fans out ( again ).

When you sign a 4 yr contract, in effect, you're saying ' you pay me £xxxxxx every week, whether I'm fit to play or not, and i'll give you 4 yrs of 100% committment '

The only way that contract can be broken is if BOTH player and club agree to break it ( by selling ) If only 1 party wants out ...then the contract stands .... and that's the message Bolton should be putting out ..... and £10 m isn't even halfway towards a point where the club should consider selling. If players don't want to commit for 4 yrs ... they should'nt agree to sign a 4 yr contract ..it's that simple .... but to be fair ..Nik hasn't been looking to leave - it's all press speculation ( which the club could end today ..if they wanted to - but the Board at Bolton are not to be trusted, as we know ... )

dioufy off to the ANC
kev davies - 1 goal all season!

It would be completely idiotic for the club to sell anelka in the transfer window and the prices touted by the media (£8-16 million pounds) are laughable.

If anelka was to go, the club would be left, effectively, without a centre forward until february, as there is nobody in the squad who we can rely on to put the ball in the back of the net. Even if megson brought in a replacement, it would be a huge gamble and how do you replace a player like anelka???

We have 3 very winnable home games in january, derby blackburn and fulham plus a visit to newcastle, A good points return from these games could see us more or less safe - getting £10 million or so for anelka would be useless if we end up in the championship next season - and INCIDENTLY, charlton have just reported an operating loss close to that figure due to their relegation last season.

right fotgtd. i would be very annoyed at anelka and the board if he was sold. i am grateful for his great play and oh so many goals but if he were to leave atleast before the end of the season then i could wish him nothing but a 'shevchenko's first season at chelsea'. unless we sign a player like berbatov or defoe which let's face it, isn't going to happen then mr-moz is completely right.
