Manuel Fernandes Or Andres D'AlessandroPremier League Portsmouth by ComeOnDavid (U9283667) 28 December 2007 Both used to play for Pompey, both are now believed to be unsettled in Spain and both would probably cost near or above the £10m mark, straight choice, who would you go for?, my choice Fernandes he's younger, we will be short on centre midfielders next month during the ANC and I think that Kranjcar and D'Alessandro are very similar and wouldnt be able to play in the same team together Latest comments

Zinedine Dindane (U1971839) posted Dec 28, 2007 We should do everything possible to sign both players! Play D'Alessandro instead of Utaka and Fernandes instead of Muntari. I'm salivating thinking about the damage we could do.

pompey4evaandeva (U10746655) posted Dec 31, 2007 why don't we buy a right winger and play a 4-4-2 d'allessandro or a different player (new signing maybe barnes but then kranjcar would play on the right and barnes on the left) can play on the right with kranjcar on the left diop and muntari in the centre of midfield, johnson at right back campbell and distin as centre backs either pamerot or a new signing (preferably taiwo from marsielle) at left back and benjani and utaka up front

pompeybennett (U10750814) posted Jan 1, 2008 d'allessandro was absolutely brilliant when he was at pompey. manuel fernandes rarely made the first team, and didn't look anything like his £10M pricetag. We definately need a striker and another midfielder. Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jermaine Defoe, we need someone with premier league experience, a proven goalscorer, unlike Benjani when he arrived. For midfield i think we need someone in midfield that creates things for the forwards. Giles Barnes will be a good buy, as he is young aswel.

Zinedine Dindane (U1971839) posted Jan 3, 2008 Krancjar is best cutting in from the left and D'Alessandro is best cutting in from the right so I fail to see the problem, in fact it makes perfect sense to play them in the same side. Manuel Fernandes didn't play many games but you could see he was a class act, wasn't it West Ham at home his first start when he was MOM. Everton played him every week and he was fantastic.

play-up-pompey-8 (U10653076) posted Jan 11, 2008 Fernandes is and was a very classy skillfill and more importantly creative player. Although i feel we are solid as rock at the moment - muntari and diop putting in strong performances week in week out. To merit signing one of the 2 suggested we would need to play 5 accross the middle. this would mean muntari and diop holding for fernandes. could this limit us in other areas?
