"Manchester United Football Club is an English football club, based at the Old Trafford stadium in Trafford, Greater Manchester, and one of the most popular sports clubs in the world, with over 50 million supporters worldwide. Manchester United is one of the most successful clubs in English football, second only to Liverpool F.C. in terms of trophies won by an English club."

happymattbloke : "wenger will give him a lesson in how to breed a football team on passion, not money. he may then get somewhere"

perhaps then fergie could give arsene a lesson about how to breed a football team with some british players in it?

Quiet.... quiet... at Old Trafford well of course it is, it's full of women with mobile phones taking pictures of footballers and part time wealthy middle class trophy hunting fans. I stopped going last year after 47 years of support when I gave up my season tickets after they took my meagre share holding by force and asked me to write a black cheque for cup tickets. It beggars belief that Fergy does not see what has happened to the supporter base of Manchester lads like me who grew up on the Stretford end and who supported them through good and bad and who were then cast aside for the greedy gravy train of Premiership Football. The game has lost it's soul and I cannot see it returning, it's a very sad loss.

You talk a lot of sense mate, united fans are up there with some of the best in terms of away support, make great noise and we have a lot of variety in songs different from a lot the standard songs u get from other teams and northern wit lol

At home yeah a different story, but thats the same for so many teams and to be honest altho this sounds ridiculas the bigger the stadium the harder to generate a gd atmosphere, just look at pompie with one the smallest capacities in the prem, but very loud at home, ive been a lot of grounds, old trafford can be loud on our day but can be awful on occasions, but anfield, stamford bridge also st. james' are also very quiet and this seems to go unoticed by a lot of these anti-united ppl out there but united will always do the talkin at home on the pitch anyway dnt u worry

Nice one m8 winkeye

Just one point to note. I was there at your place when we humbled the villa 1-4 this season and it was also like a funeral (until you scored)....except for the sound of our away fans blowing the villa faithful out of the sea for volume levels as we conga'd our way around your sad away paddock outsinging nearby AV fans in pink pullovers...

Just to be fair though, I will take a decibel counter with me next time to check I'm not doing you a dis-service.

BTW - I sorted your poncy mascot out too for trying to pinch my chips outside the ground...(Growl)

"indeed. !! SAF is such a moaner. He moaned about the atmosphere at emirates being too close to the bone for him but now he criticises his own fans for shutting up. If he wants atmosphere so much tell him to come down london and wenger will give him a lesson in how to breed a football team on passion, not money. he may then get somewhere"

happyprattmatt, you're an idiot! it's well known that wenger is the biggest moaner in the prem. he's the main reason why i can't stand arsenal, who are a team i used to like. and your last sentence is just stupid, what do you mean saf might get somewhere? he's won more than arsene winger ever will. stop gloating over your fancy dan football, and come back when you've won something!

There are many valid points made in this list of postings but it remains a fact that there is no substitute for a winning team. It gives the club it's impetus and when the team is playing attractive football, it's a bonus.
Man U have played some entertaining stuff over many years - it's their style - but this also means that other sides have a chance. That's what makes them an exciting team to watch - most of the time. Into every life a little rain must fall. The next sunny day will dry it all up again. smiley

OT:

Big games tend to bring diehard fans with them. For example:

Chelsea:

Liverpool:

And (somewhat unrelated but i just found it quite funny) the 1977 FA cup final:

Then you get the league games:

Admittedly Rather Pathetic.

The away fans on the other hand:

Liverpool:

Arsenal:

Birmingham:

Everton:

Everton(/Chelsea):

That's just a few of many..

And to the n*mpty who talks about a screen, your meant to watch the football you cr*tin not a screen, your the type Keano was talking about.

-------------------------

You're a fool. You're one of those idiots that sees themselves as superior to everyone else in the ground because you've been there the more times. Keano? Talking about me??? No chance. I hate prawn sandwiches. I last had one about 12 years ago. Made me sick. Maybe it was the mayo but nevertheless, I haven't touched them since.

Maybe you're eyes are better than mine. I can never get a seat close enough to actually see the football. A screen would help out so that on the next day I could believe that I actually saw something. Plus the funeral like atmospherical conditions don't help.

I'm happy when I'm sat close to the away fans. Portsmouth's (mentioned earlier) fans impressed me a lot for their singing/chanting/general noise.

I'd never leave early, they annoy the hell out of me. During the Semi final match against Milan I was out of the country but watching it on TV - wished I could have been there - and I noticed people were leaving 5 minutes early during that game. I couldn't believe it. How could anyone in the right minds choose missing the traffic over the finale of one of the most riveting matches in years.
