Some of the recent young managers who have been mentioned for the job have only done slightly well; they have won no Cups and have never managed teams playing in either the Uefa Cup or Champions League.

I want someone who has more experience for the job.

My short list would be.

(1) Jimmy Calderwood
Did well to finish 3rd with Aberdeen considering Milne puts no money in to the Club. He also has European experience and managed in the Netherlands (Willem II Tilburg & NEC Nijmegen) for 3 years.

(2) George Graham
He guided Arsenal to the 1994 European Cup Winners Cup Trophy and many other domestic Cups. He also had good spells with Spurs and Leeds.

(3) Kenny Dalglish
He is one of only three people to have won the English League Championship as a manager with two different clubs and has loads of European experience.

Anyway happy New Year everyone and lets hope we get the RIGHT man for the job very soon. bubbly

Sorry watson I wouldn't want any of those. They would all suck us back into the stone age.

One of Scotland's biggest problems of the last twenty years has been sticking to tried and tested whether it be players or managers. Biggest example being the Roxburgh/Brown attitude of never playing a youngster.

We now appear to be getting through this and playing decent youngsters like Brown and Hutton etc.

I would personally prefer George Burley. I like his attitude and the fact he likes his teams to play good football.

Love George Burley and he would seem to be the preferred choice, especially if McGhee is best suited to remain at Motherwell to help the team through after their recent tragedy. George Graham would have more appeal than Kenny Dalglish, although I'd prefer a younger man like Davies or Levein if Burley doesn't accept the offer! Anyone except that arrogant Souness guy. That would be going back to the dark ages.

I reckon they should go for Gary Neville.

Graham and Dalglish?Good in their time but they are out of action for long time.I think we all know the one and only Scottish manager but...he will retire where he is.Mac Leish will be greatly missed

I would go for George Burley or Tommy Burns. The one person I am totally opposed to is Graeme Souness. He comes across as arrogant and I don't think the fans would accept him, and that's not helping anyone.
We need someone the fans will get behind.
