Arsenal fan in peace.

I would just like to say that was a real cracker of a game and I hope our future games can be as nerve racking as this. Lets leave the fighting and grudges to one side and celebrate for both teams from North London.

Absolutely Steve! I understand that Arsene Wenger routinely rejects brilliant English players in favour of foriegners!

You muppet! The good players get through, the less good don't. If the Englsih players are good enough they'll do well. If not, they will have to ply their trade elsewhere

Yer right so there's no English player good enough to make it into the Arsenal first team starting line up.

Funny Chelsea ,Liverpool Manchester United, Manchester City and EVERY OTHER PREMIER
LEAGUE TEAM don't have this problem!

It's this sort of attitude that's going to ruin the game in the UK

Try engaging brain before putting hand to key board
You plank!

Well the fools are out in force today! Walcott instead of Flamini? Yeah right let's play an extra striker instead of our defensive midfielder!! Everyone always complains that we're too defensive after all!! Fool.

And then all those English players that Arsenal could play. Name one, who is available and better than what we've got. Fool.

There must be many North London Youngsters gifted at fooball who would like to emulate the Wealth and Success of players at Arsenal. It is a crying shame that under the present management at Arsenal (with it's total dedication to the Foreign Legion) they have rather more chance of becoming the next Pope.

For this reason and no other I hope Arsenal slip up and allow Man United to win the league. At least they foster some home grown talent.
------------------------
Please - get the facts right. Who was the last 'local' youngster to get a break into the United first team on a regular basis? Wes Brown - 8 years ago. United are no better than Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool in this respect.

Itake your point however they do at least use home grown British talent. Also I think it is evident from the philosophy at Arsenal that even were they to be good enough to play in a top Premier League team their chances of being selected for any other Premier league team have to be better than at Arsenal. I don't have anything against the players at Arsenal they play good attractive football however they are supposed to be an English football team playing in an English league at least some of their players should be from the country and preferably the city in which they are based.

"arsenal are not foing much for english youngsters in north london or anywhere else in the country."
this sums up what most fans are saying about the gunners. there is nothing wrong with the above quote or anything similar, but that is from an ethical point of view, not a modern day football point of view. arsenals goals are to succeed, and the responsibility lies with wenger and if he feels non-english man are the better option then that is his right. i would say to anybody who is upset by arsenals lack of englishmen, to boycott there games and merchandise etc. after all it is north londoners and englishmen who pay to watch them at the emirates. but this is unlikely i know.
(remember: foreigners cost half as much with twice the talent) that is a sad truth, and i dont blame wenger for buying a free 16 year old fabregas than a 30 million pound rooney or adebayor for 3 million rather than 16 million darren bent. smiley

"What about theo Walcott. He should be playing instead of flamini"
peterb731, walcott may be good but i would not play him holding mid or in defense doh, use some sense, they are different positions.

dont forget david seaman (englands no 1 in his day) was at arsenal, as well as cole (who is a youth product from east london) and sol, who after signing from spurs became an england regular. cole left for money (cashley), seaman was getting old9brazil 2002) and sol was playing poor (zamora) near the end of his arsenal career.

It takes time to set up a good youth academy, Sir Alex was in English football for a while before Wenger so saw the results of developing young talent sooner. Wenger's setup is just starting to bear fruit, so we can expect to see young English players making their way through in the not too distant future

It's also worth nothing that most top flight clubs haven't produced any "World Class" English players in quite some time, including Man United, so consider this before you post.....anyone else getting sick of this debate being brought up every week?
