Fulham vs Wigan

Premier League Fulham
comment on the article

I'm off to the cottage tomorrow, an I think this is definently a game that Fulham can win.

Fulham team news:

Jimmy Bullard will not feature for Fulham, and Brian McBride (knee), Ian Pearce (calf), Philippe Christanval (knee), Simon Elliott (Achilles) and Lee Cook will also not play.

Fulham (from): Niemi, Warner, Baird, Omozusi, Hughes, Stefanovic, Bocanegra, Konchesky, Davies, Davis, Murphy, Dempsey, Kamara, Kuqi, Healy, Bouazza, Leijer, Seol.

Here is my team:

.................Niemi................

Omozusi....Hughes....Stefanovic...Konchesky

Davies......Smertin......Murphy.....Dempsey

............Healy......Kamara.........

Subs: Warner, Volz, Davis, Seol, Kuqi

Discuss.

But how many points does having a large fan base get you at the start of a season?

ZERO!

That's why Man Ure and teams like ourselves started on zero points, and we are in the Premiership and Leeds and Forest are in League 1.

And why English football is the greatest in the world.

The debate goes on about our next gaffer BUT (and i am probably in the minority) there should be only one person for the job..RAY LEWINGTON!!!! He played for Fulham, was the Fulham boss many years ago (and did a good job) and by the looks of our performance today, has the players' respect. I liked his after-match interview which was a refreshing change from the clueless state of Sanchez. I know the temptation is there to go outside but....Mr.Fayed.....STICK WITH LEWIE!!!!!!!!!!

I watched fulham under ray lewington, years ago! I doubt you did, if you think he did a good job! Were dreadful then! We played with no creativity and when he bought steve milton well that was the icing on the cake!!! No ray lewington is not the right man for the job. Not if we are to survive in the premiership! Behave yourself!!!!!

interesting to hear Clint Dempsey on Radio 5 on my way back from the game. Said that he preferred RL letting them play with more freedom. The interviewer tried to suck him into a bash Sanchez moment and he managed to be very diplomatic but the essence of his comment was clear. Sanchez forced the team to play his pathetic brand of 'direct' football and Dempsey for one wasn't happy with it.

Disappointed not to come away from the game with three points for Fulham on our first half performance, I didn't think Wigan really threatened us. Had my head in my hands when they scored, thought it was against the run of play.

Whatever happens I hope the new manager drops (and sells) Davis, Kamara, Baird, Seol and brings in some quality in midfield and a decent centre forward, we can't wait for Bullard and McBride to come back and hope they solve all of Fulham's many, many Sanchez caused problems!

Firstly, dissapointed not to win as we need to win these games but at least we have escaped the relegation places.

Secondly, well done Lewington and McKinlay. They got them playing the ball on the ground a lot more and Murphy in particular thrived on this. This was shown by Kuqi barely touching the ball when he came on.

Dempsey has been brilliant this season and if it wasent for him, this club would be struggling even more this season. Great strike for a great player. Another solid shift from him this afternoon.

However, I dont want Lewington to get the job. I thought he got one sub wrong. The Davis-Healy switch was made too early and even though Davis was having a shocker it opened it up for Wigan. He did get the team playing a lot better(best performance since Reading) and he made good starting decisions like Boca coming in for Stefanovic. Delighted he didnt play! I just dont think he is the answer though-I would like John Collins in charge ASAP.

fulofhope - you don't know me therefore are not in a position to comment on whether i watched Lewington coach or not. I was back then, as i still am, a season ticket holder at the Cottage. The temptation is always to look outside however i feel that we don't need to be so rash...were you at the game today?? If you were, you have to acknowledge that we played much better today; i stand by my view that Lewie has the players' respect - he may not be the big name that most want, but he'll get the most of the boys. As for the reference to Steve Milton, heaven help the manager who doesn't make errors of judgment!!!!! Nevertheless....regardless of who gets the job, as long as we survive the drop this year, i'll be happy (and relieved!!).

"Thistlecoach" is a deluded if honourable supporter.Lewington has shown his inadequacy before so why even consider him.He is mediocre at best. also noted the other inadequate idiot on the bench today-les Reed.what the hell is he even doing in the same postal district.time to throw out this alter of dross that we seem to think is ok for a club like Fulham.Lets remind ourselves that we are in the highest league of the worlds best league and never should settle for second best-that should rule Collins out too.Lippi or Bilich it has to be.Anything less is one sandwich short of an Harrods food hamper.

fair to say fulham had us all over in the first 20 minutes but we imporvd after i couldnt belive valencia's miss in the last minutes his a good player but his not a finisher more like running player i think 1-1 was a fiar result but i think us and fulham need to improve because we both have silly owners who dont know when to use the money.

if we had of gived 25 milion jewel we would have been better but steve bruce is here i cant wait untill january he will bring is some decent players and i hope faulham do aswell they have some good runners they just have a terrible defence like us and we need to buys 2 centre back and one left back and one striker and 2 mids so we can play good football.

Thistlecoach- after the defeat by tottenham do you still think ray is the man? There are many reasons why this should not happen!
1 He is not good enough.
2 He will not be able to bring quality players to the club.
3 To say that the players "respect" him more is rubbish. These players are not being beaten every week because they dont respect a manager they are not good enough! I bet you booed Coleman!!!
