Triesman nominated as FA chairman

comment on the article
Lord David Triesman

Lord David Triesman has been backed a Football Assocation selection panel as the organisation's first independent chairman.

The Tottenham season ticket holder has plenty of experience in game as a player, referee and coach, as well as patron of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

His nomination will be formally ratified at an FA Council meeting in January.

So what difference can the government minister make in his new role?

Let us know your thoughts.

A hypocritical enemy of free speech, a yes man and a communist. According to Wikipedia, he played a part " in creating a trade union policy that discriminates against women and black members, which is still the legal precedence for cases where a woman or black member brings a complaint of sexist or racist harassment or discrimination against other members. "

i'm sorry i think this is just same old FA...why is he even being appointed?? agree with gogonzola that a detailed profile of this man should be drawn up, what he can input to help the english game push forward, his credentials...and so much more. and to top it off, a game that has been reported to not have enough black managers and coaches, appoint a supposed racist, and a fraud!! brilliant. ok, so he has the credentials the FA would look for then laugh
but on a serious note, the FA must state what he has been set out to achieve? so we and the FA can make sure he's doing what we need.

Triesman used to dangle his Spurs scarf over the front desk at NATFHE Inner London Region meetings when he was the Regional Secretary. He was then a master of both procedure and protocol - in other words, a complete hack - and exactly what the FA does not need. doh

How can he be independent if the FA chooses him?
