Once again we have the English cricket team to thank for bringing disgrace upon the nation. Thank you. You have made us the laughing stock of world cricket.

Really can't be bothered to read through all the comments, given that 50% of them are probably written by people who jumped on the cricket bandwagon after the 2005 Ashes, and who would normally be building up and then knocking down the England football team.

Suffice to say, teams sometimes get skittled out - we've done it to the Aussies ffs, but it didn't make them a bad team. There are positives to take from this tour (experience gained, not least) in a series I didn't expect us to win anyway. Not many teams do win in Sri Lanka. And let's not forget that we did win the one-day series, which was a massive achievement with a young squad. We have some excellent bowlers coming through, and exciting batsmen, who will be England test players for years to come.

Now if only we could sort out the wicketkeeper position...

ps - how can anyone in their right mind rate this article as a five star one? It consists of three lines!

its really sad but i think we all have to wake up and realise that we are shit at sports !! Whatever one you care to mention others are simply better !! So why don't all you armchair experts just chill out and enjoy watching the other teams that beat us or give up giving a shit!

Australia built its success on firstly choosing truly athletic players and drilling them on fielding until they would virtually never drop a catch. Batting and bowling skills are also vital, but the competitive edge has been built on the fact that you very rarely get a second chance against them. In all these matches in Sri Lanka the tests could have been won if we had held our catches. The scores Sri Lanka made would have been halved and the batters go out there fresh after short stints in the field, and little or no pressure chasing small totals. Until England get this point, we are destined to fail time and time again. Remember this, our Ashes success was based on the Aussies uncharacteristically dropping a few catches at critical moments, something they have rarely if ever done in the last 20 years. That's where we need to be.

Hey everybody this is my first time.

England are lacking class players. Players like Marcus Trescothick, and Simon Jones. Ravi Bopara and Stuart Broad are not test players. More importantly Matt Prior is not the man for the job. Chris Read or Geraint Jones are the stronger option with better stats and experience e.g (both players have played in the ashes) thanks

You made some of the best points here.... someone asked, who won the 1 day series?? England.... so why has England not performed in the test series?? Moores said the players are tired & jaded.... BUT aren't the Sri Lankans players tired too?? After all they played the same number of matches as the England boys.... the excuse must therefore be the mental aspect when you are away from home for so long and nearer the end of the tour.... what we need is a sports psychologist or relaxation not Moores telling players off like school kids..... but it is most definitely a mental thing, the England team has proved that it is a match to this Sri Lankan Team in the one day series....

If I here Vaughan start to witter on about 'learning' or 'what we will take away' from another battering I think I will start to watch football. Over rated, over paid and unfortuneately over there

Can somebody anybody tell me why with a score of 80 odd all out are the England team not back here and the reserves not playing instead? I presume that there is a reserve team smiley
