Man City take Al Qahtani on trial

Premier League Manchester City
comment on the article

Manchester City have handed a trial to Asian player of the year and Saudi Arabia captain Yasser Al Qahtani.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

The 25-year-old Al Hilal striker has arrived in Manchester with his club's president Prince Mohammed Bin Faisal and his agent Turki Al Mukairin.

"I'm now in England after I got an invitation letter from Manchester City," Al Qahtani said.

"I am glad to train with such a good club in England and I will try to prove that Saudi players are good players."

Should City sign Al Qahtani?

Who should City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson be trying to bring in during the January transfer window?

hopefully the iraq fans out there will be appeased now that nashat akram's getting a trial at city as well. although neither akram nor al qatani would do half the job bresciano will!!!

grizzlekid. three things.

first and foremost, mark bresciano has a stellar record at the international level. likewise he has consistenly been one of the top performers at parma and now palermo over the past few years. so nyah.

secondly, looking back at my original post i'd reckon what i said about bresh cf akram and al qatani was obviously said in patriotic jest. if that didnt come through im sorry. but i think its HIGHLY hippocritical of you to say that my stance is biased on the basis of my nationality, considering your preceding posts concerning yasser.

finally, theres no need to bring nationalities into it. but if you do feel the need to, in future please give me the due respect of spelling mine correctly. thanks.

well apparently he received an offer of a contract but turned it down, saying
"The reason I rejected the offer was... because I feel Al Hilal need me too much this season."
cop out.

Apparently he is goin to cost us £7m anyway, n I can see him as a flop just like Samaras . So no big deal if he is not goin to sign for us.

Hopefully he doesnt

biggrin

I agree with dannyboyvictory that bringing nationalities as out of context in this discussion. Yet I really think that Nashat Akram could benefit Man City, he is a great play maker, young (23), very professional, has a great vision of the field and have a lot of international experience. In addition he is strong physically something that Qahtani lacks. The only thing on the negative side about Akram game is that he is a bit slow but like many play makers he deal with that with his foot work (just remember Zidane).

This player is a racist.
His reason for not accepting Chelsea's offer is that they have an Israeli (or Jewish) coach.
That is what he told the newspapers here in Saudi Arabia.
Respectable leagues in this world don't need such a bigot.
