*** Kaka wins World Player of the Year ***European Football Manchester United Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea by RebelArmyRedDevil (aka RARD) *Keano - Red Legend, Prem's Greatest* (U8557329) 17 December 2007 Kaka of AC Milan has been officially announced as the World Player of the Year, beating off competition from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Kaka fully deserves the title, although I thought it was harsh on Ronaldo for placing him in third placeWalcott Wonderland In a poll of all the national coaches and captains, Kaka polled top, followed by Messi and then Ronaldo.Personally, I thought all three players had a shout for the award, but I would have given it to Ronaldo, who I felt was the more impressive all year around, I think they maybe gave it to Kaka for his performance against United in the Champions League semi-finals. Kaka is a wonderful player, that is for sure and I don't begrudge him the reward. One thing we can say for certain is we haven't heard the last of the three nominees. Congratulations to Kaka, and I'm sure Ronnie will do it next year! Final Results:

renoog (U13513755) posted Jan 10, 2009 Speaking of the European board, it's a disgrace how little attention is given to non-English football on 606. The "European football" board is the one place where we can go discuss Serie A, La Liga etc. yet it's full of articles about the UEFA Cup, Champions League etc. even though there are specialist boards for these! Bloody idiots

renoog (U13513755) posted Jan 10, 2009 Exactly! That point about Rafa made me laugh. I saw something along the lines of "Fergie 10 Rafa 0" yesterday (obviously in reference to Premier League titles won), like you point out, ignoring the fact that Rafa won 2 titles with Valencia from under the noses of Real and Barca, without ever spending big like Fergie has done in all his title triumphs.
