Ashley ColePremier League Chelsea by Walham Green (U5634918) 17 December 2007 I thought Ashley did well yesterday, faced with the most appalling treatment from fans who once adored him.One of the most amusing things about all this is the fact that Arsenal fans saw no wrong in Sol Campbell moving across London to join them but have the opposite view when it is done in reverse.Ashley was right to go, he increased his salary, got the chance to play alongside fellow Londoners from a similar background, and have someone to talk to in the dressing room and at the training ground. He also added two winners medals to his collection in the first year.English is probably rarely spoken at Arsenal apart from the contactual obligation the club has to the media.Good on ya Ash, you did great. Slider 22 (U9976461) posted Dec 19, 2007 Players like Cole are paid millions of dollars to play football - something they supposedly love doing. And then they behave like that??? The fans have absolutely every right to voice their opinion as they ultimately fund these mammoth salaries. I still can not believe that players are allowed to behave like that on a football pitch…where I come from you are not allowed to even speak a single word to the referee, let alone shout in his face and surround him like a bunch of flies around a turd. Absurd!

superlativepatrick (U8081473) posted Dec 19, 2007 The behaviour of Arsenal fans towards Ashley Cole portrays them as holigans who have no place in modern football. If cole felt he was no more comfortable at Arsenal what was wrong with that and what's the fuss about his quitting the club. Why don't you learn from Chelsea Fc who did not give a dam when Gallas alo left the club.Whenever he(gallas) comes to chelsea we as civilised people are going to give him a decent and warm reception and not the hostile and primitive type by Arsenal fans. And so Arsenal has now resorted to brutish football as dsplaced by Eboue against JT? I hope cameras picked that. He has sent JT to the hospital for the next 3 months by his vicious attack. I thought they were known for the so-called entertaining play. Mayb things have changed or was it because of Chelsea or Cole o both? We are watching.

willy-j (U10689699) posted Dec 19, 2007 Two fingers to the crowd to whom he had already been so rude in the past in both him actions and his comments in the autobiography was unnecessary, especially to any kids watching on tv to whom he may be an england idol, whether chelsea or arsenal. Banning is perhaps too far, but a public apology is certainly needed.

heyyouoverthere (U2085590) posted Dec 19, 2007 Certain players will always be hated, regardless of what they do. For example Cole seems like a decent professional to me on the pitch. I think if we delved too deeply into most modern footballers negotiations for a pay rise, they would come across as money grabbing, don't know they are born, yobs. It just so happens that Cole was idiot enough to put it in a book and then marry a pop star. Other than that he seems OK. Arsenal fans have a lot of bile in them if you scratch the surface

TomSawyer88 (U9771306) posted Dec 19, 2007 Really really don't like the guy. But come on, he was getting personally abused for 90 minutes and all he did was stick two fingers up. It would be ridiculous if he was punished for that.

Ohound (U5480169) posted Dec 19, 2007 What we think of Cashley is besides the point-I am glad hes gone and I am glad he came back and ended up on the losing side. Dont feel sorry for him at all as being at Chelski has seen him slip back in terms of how he plays football as well as his profile. The fans booed him just likely he so justly deserved going about angling another £6.50 per second onto top of his wages-good luck to him and I hope its bought him happiness although I think not-not £6.50 per seconds worth... anyway I digress, the FA should keep their filthy noses out of this-he was our boy, left and went somewhere else-we showed him what we felt about him-he showed us what he felt about us-end of. No body needs the useless FA stepping into this. This article has now been closed to comments. Please visit another 606 thread or start a new one to continue the debate elsewhere. |
