Good result and better performance.......

Premier League Tottenham Hotspur

A draw was a good result especially in them conditions. I thought we were the better side and could have won it. I also think it was a better performance defensively both at the back and in midfield (bar Dawson's mistake for their goal). It was a hard ground to go to in poor conditions so all in all we're through to the last 32 so I'm happy!

I agree with the poster, it was a more solid performance, apart from the mistake we looked a good outfit.

Spurs are still very much "work in progress". The Birmingham game and the soft goal conceded v Anderlecht shows that Ramos has much to do to get a formation that works. The squad is really strong (despite the odd injury) and there is no reason why Tottenham can't have good runs in the cups. But that defence has got be more solid. When Ledley is back that will help. King and Dawson are potentially a pairing that would be envied by most clubs.

switching tact here

city fan in peace

spurs are charging us £ 36.00 for tickets on sunday - bit pricey - what do other city fans think ?

i can get hospitality for that with an executive seat and car parking at COMS

I find it hard to believe that the BBC reported on this match without any mention of the decision to disallow Anderlecht's goal just before half time. Two yards on side and a shocking decision. I suppose you report what you want to see. Not the best game I ever watched but I do feel that Spurs have a good chance to get a decent run in this competition.

I am judging only from the result and the newsreport here, so do't shoot me smiley

Frankly, Anderlecht are not PL material. The Belgian league is really poor and in that League A. are doing far from great at the moment.

I hate to be a downer but T'ham should have easily won this game.

It was not a great game to watch. Yet to critcise the standard of play w/o acknowledging the conditions isnt fair.

DZ cant play as CB in a PREM game, so its gonna have to be Chimbo in the middle or 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 against city. Far too often he was all over the place and if it had been better opposition, we would have given them more chances to score.
Thats not a criticism on his effort or achievement, just an observation of what would happen given the better quality in the PREM.

Ill add one more thing to what has been said by my fellow y!ds, Robbo made some fine saves. Damn good performance!

Sorry can't agree it was a good performance or the team is showing signs of improvement. After all Bolton went to Red Star with their second string and won!!!

Robinson was OK, Some good saves but still not sure about coming out.

Chimbonda shows many weaknesses in defence Premier league players will exploit, did not support Lennon very well.

Dawson, good honest ball attacker, but little class or finesse and not too good at defending in the air when under pressure.

Zokora played out of position and was very poor, only position I see for him is a battling midfielder.

Lee, well, he is not a left back and sides when they know this as Anderlecht did, they put him under pressure easily and when in attack they force him on to his left foot and he has to turn inside, predictable. Makes some very poor passes in front of his own goal and out of defence.

Jenas, an ordinary midfield player that has the odd good game, gives the ball away far too much and can't tackle.

Lennon, does not provide enough quality crosses hence the Spurs forwards hardly ever are in the six yard box trying to get on the end of them. Only has his speed to commend him.

Huddlestone, may have great passing ability but is a lazy over casual player who more often than not gets caught in possession and gets the other players into trouble. Has the odd good game.

Malbranque, very good player and ought to have a more central midfield role where his passing and vision can count more, one of the better performances last night.

Keane, bad night last night but consistently our best player and goalscorer.

Bent, sorry, but he is way out of his depth at premiership level of football and European football too. Only good thing he can do is run on to a ball played over the top of the defence to utilise his speed. This is not enough at this level and he will struggle at Spurs.
Dim-olli should be made to personally pay his wages.

Berbatov, lovely touches and nice footwork, but far too lazy and not direct or forceful enough about many of the chances that come his way. I would sell him quickly before his star status wanes.
He seldom scores against the big teams, he scores often in Europe and lets be honest the teams we have played this year and last year are way inferior to the Premier League with the exception of Sevilla who beat us.

Defoe, be honest he is never going to make it, sell him in January along with Bent and Berbatov and get some truly proven strikers in along with two full backs and a centre half of quality.
I don't think we will ever see King playing for long again.

I was embarrassed watching the game last night at how little quality passing and holding on to the ball there was from the whole team. Apart from the first match in Europe this year we have been incredibly lucky to get this far and I dread who we will meet in the new year in case it is one of the good teams. Major work needs to be done at WHL and so far I am still not overly impressed with Ramos and Poyet.
Needs to be drastic changes at the top as well.
