Simon Davey

Championship Barnsley

comment on the article

Just heard on the radio that Simon Davey has today put pen to paper on a 4 year contract extension with the Reds.

Think he really deserves it after keeping us up last season with a mainly inherited squad and achieving what he has with his own players so far this year.

Well done to the board for keeping hold of him, he's shaping up to be one of the best young managers around.

Thoughts fellow reds fans?

"Have you actualy read the statement on the clubs web site. To me that shows long term commitment on both sides."

It's easy to show commitment when the team is doing well, the same way we were commited to Dave Bassett and Andy Ritchie. I've no problem with Davey being the manager and if there is that commitment there then it's fantastic, but Barnsley seem to have a revolving door on the manager's office, if this is the end of it then great, if not we could have cost ourselves quite a bit of money.

I think what he has done with your team is excellent, good luck for the next 4 years and lets hope we hear you guys singing its just like watching brazil in the prem again soon!!

No that will be Wednesday fans singing against barnsley :D

Back to Davey though, I think what hes done for Barnsley is excellent Getting you sky high in the table compared to your achivements last season and has made some brilliant signings e.g Heinz Muller. So well done to your board has got him on a 4 year deal because I'm Sure a big club will come inand try to take him from you if he carries on this form.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Donnyfanz

Your son can't have watched us that much then. On occasions, mainly in away games, we have been poor, but our last 'poor' performance was against Leicester about 6 games ago, at Oakwell and on away days since then we've been excellent. And how can we be happy with Davey? Well, keeping us up with a fairly poor inherited squad and then taking us to 8th in a league with the likes of Watford and West Brom in? I don't know, you tell me mate.

Well, we'll see Sam, may be it will be 3-0 to you lot, or maybe we will turn you over like Stoke did on Tuesday.

donnyfanz - how many games has your son been to?

The only times we've been lucky is prob 1 or 2 away games and Blackpool at home.

Keep dreaming mate - if Donny are playing 'superb' football how come your not taking League 1 by storm?

Jealous and deluded.

as for bigmansam - we'll see mate - going by your home form we'll beat you 3-0. Should be a good game.
