FERGIE - ANDERSON IS THE BEST

Premier League Manchester United

comment on the article

Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Anderson for filling the void left by Paul Scholes' injury.

Scholes is likely to be out until the New Year with a knee injury he picked up in training before United's UEFA Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev back in October, but he has hardly been missed due to Anderson's recent form.

The Brazilian arrived at Old Trafford in the summer from Porto in a £19million deal and has given Ferguson's side a new dimension in midfield.

His ability to adapt to life in the Premier League so quickly may have surprised some, but his manager believes that he is merely fulfilling the potential which the club knew he had after agreeing the deal with the Portuguese champions at the end of last season.

Superb

"Anderson has been absolutely superb," Ferguson said.

"The boy has definitely got something special.

"There was an urgency to get him once we'd scouted him, even though he had broken his leg and had been out for four or five months.

"The reports we were getting were saying that he was the best young player in the world.

"I knew he had real potential but I didn't want to put labels on him like that.

"But we have been delighted with him and he has proven himself to be a true central midfield player.

"He can tackle, he is lightening quick, he's brave and he can pass the ball.

"What he's got to prove is his goalscoring ability because that's something that Scholesy has always given us."

Dominated

Ferguson even believes that his new star is better than Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas after leaving the Spaniard in the shade during the 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium last month.

"Anderson's battle with Cesc Fabregas against Arsenal was interesting because they were two very influential players in the game," he said.

"The boy Fabregas is going through a golden period at Arsenal, but I thought that Anderson dominated that position."

Liverpool fan,
Watched him in the 2-2 Arsenal vs. Man U. game and the only time I noticed him was when he was moaning and trying to get Arsenal players booked

Always respected Sir Alex as a manager but he has a habit of hugely over-hyping his own players, to say he is better than Fabregas is absolute madness. From the games i've seen in the Bundesliga, EPL and La Liga, Fabregas has been the best player of the year and has become possibly the best centre-midfielder around (including my beloved Gerrard).

Still, has buckets of potential been 19, as does Cesc at 21 so if he develops anything like the latter then many will stand up and pay him his deserved attention and respect. But for now, he's still got to prove himself.

He's a cracking little player; great energy, vision, passing, and he's tougher than his size would suggest. We payed 19 million so you expect something half decent, and he seems to have fit into the Scholes role really well in his absence. As for the Fabregas debate, the spaniard is considered amongst the worlds best because like Ronaldo, he has added goals (and lots of them) to his game this season. As Anderson develops hopefully we will see this from him. Untill then we can't consider him as comparative to Arsenal's little magician. Although he is an exceptionally mature talent at 19.

SAF said that during the Man U vs Arsenal game that Anderson was a better player than Fabregas. He's talking about one game, not who is the better player all round. People love to ridicule SAF when the chance comes along but you're reading to much in to it. For me Fabregas is the better player but that's not saying Anderson cannot be better, we'll see what happens.

I think a lot of people underestimate Anderson's movement off the ball and passing ability. We bought Carrick for his passing and tackling but Anderson has been better in both areas already this season.

No doubt the boy's got potential and I'm looking forward to seeing how things turn out.

As for the season so far, I'm loving it! How close is it at the moment! Liverpool win their game in hand and they're level with United with Chelsea only two points behind, and Arsenal are 4 points ahead of United. This is what football's about, good strong competition from several teams and anyone one of them could win it.

COME ON UNITED!!!

I have to say even when he hasn't been at his best he has impressed, he's got a great football brain, and I've been genuinely surprised about how well he defends though.

The best thing is I really think their is more to come from him, he's only 19. Look at the improvement in Ronaldo from 19 to 22.

I don't think that Ferguson was saying that he was better than Fabregas, just that he out played him at the emirates which I beleive is fair comment.

Fergie said he kept him quite in the Arsenal game, nowhere did he say Anderson was better than Fabregas

That's just the gunners jumping to conclusions..

Hi guy some of you arguin but im A true united supporter
Liste as you guys know most players take time to settle in the premier league especialy if they are from low leve of football league.
Anderson is from portugal where the football is not extremely well as premier league ronald took time to settle in, and if you look at Anderson he has settled realy realy well in England.
One Question does any of you except from arsenal fans knew Fabregas about two years ago? Like You know him now. So anderson is 19 Fabregas is 22 probably and still Anderson is recognised by other teams fans.
Now why hasnt fernando torres scored 12 goals like Ronaldo has? The answer is its his first season takin time to settle.
Same to Anderson
Give da boy 1 Season he will prove it.
Thank you

He was a left winger at Porto... strage to play him centre-mid when he never played there in Portugal

-------------

No he wasn't. Porto's left winger was (and is) Quaresma.
In the 18 games he played (superbly) for Porto he was the typical nº 10 Attacking midfielder. He shouldn´t waste his talent defending.

firstley cesc is only 20 not 22 and torres has scored 11 in 17 so hes doing very well in his first season.

Its a shame your to idiotic to read what Ferguson actually said and not just the title. He said he was better than him in ONE game. And if you didn't notice him against Arsenal you don't know much about football. He got rated very highly by virtually all the media reviewing the game, and got constant mentions from the commentators during the game (and not just for the drop and role).
