Fair play Matt Prior you are playing an innings of great maturity under the most intense pressure. A duck in the first innings only added to the pressure. This is Priors 8th test and it is the 5th 100 partnership he as been involved in. Lets hope this shuts the critics up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They say that “class is permanent and form is temporary”. Class should get a player into the squad and form into the team. Why do we seem to operate it the other way round?

All this fuss about Murali's action. One thing is for sure he is a great bowler and is on top. It gives a great boost to the game and retains intrest.

ABOUT THE CRITISIM ON MURALI BY WESTERN MEDIA-HERE'S MY COMMENT
"MATE ATLEAST HE DOES NOT BOWL UNDERARM"

Vino - underarm was only ever bowled when it was legal to do so!

As distinct from a bowler who only becomes legal after ICC chnage the rules!!!!!!!!!!

uselessengland - what a very uneducated comment. what vaughan has done for english cricket is very commendable. he has turned england into the 2nd best test side in the world and to say we got walloped against sri lanka is very misguided. He is a fine captain and worth his place in the side even when he isn't scoring lots of runs.

I also think Jimmy Anderson is still a bright prospect. He bowled fantasticall over the summer and is relatively sharp and is able to swing the ball both ways as well as being able to implement reverse swing at the end of an innings. u all seem to quick to criticise.

Oldman - is true that MV did take you to second best test side and is now likely to take you towards the bottom. I believe the weighted average of the 2005 Ashes drops out of the ranking equation thus will see England points plummet - and thus the ranking.

MV has been a very good batsman but I think now he beginning to lose the edge he once had. He is no where near as consistent he once was which is down to his physical ability to get through a game. I personally don't think it will be long before selectors have some hard questions to ask of MV (although Gravytrain and his mates don't often do hard questions).

what on earth are you talking about THISISITFOLKS? Vaughan's batting form has been fine since he returned to the side. he's averaged well over 40 since his return, and apparently one failure in the 2nd innings in kandy makes him a shaky option?

Exciting and tense game. England should be praised for nearly getting a draw. They easily could have folded.

Good effort SL for keeping the pressure on.

Looking forward to the next Test!

This is my favourite comment. England praised for almost getting a draw.

Sounds like being almost pregnant. Actually it could be. The same lead up occurred for England.

And where is all this praise for individuals in a team sport? This is why Australia has the wood on teams. Their goal is to win the match, and each batsman plays his part.

Not so here, each batsman tries to better their position, and hopes the score adds up to a winner.

And the fans love it.

Asbove - all I am saying is MV has lost his edge in the test match arena. Watch how he moves and the cautious nature of his batting as distinct from his free flowing shots of a couple of years ago. (Pre injured Knee)

I could be wrong but I don't think it will be long (maybe even after this series) that the selectors will question MVs position.

As for averages - I personally don't place a great deal of credence on them particularly if they are used as main evidence to prove a point of view.

Well , never did ICC say it was illegal for Murali to bend the arm ( a medically supported reason). And why only Aussie umpires have a complaint.

Did you hear of another great called Chandrashekar of India. He had a polio attack and that helped him to be a bowler that he was.He has a weird action as well.

How do you feel about the action of Shaun Tait and Malinga for a start. I feel they throw. See Brett Lee closely , when he releases the ball it is more of his wrist that does the work and for me it seems he gets his speed because of that late jerk of the wrist.I see that as throw.

In case of the underarm delivery, well it created a big enough fuss for the rules to be changed to disband that kind of a delivery. In Murali's case there was a big enough fuss that helped change the rules for the better mate.

"Legal" in a gentleman's game is not what happened with the underarm. So let us not excuse the Aussies for it.And is it a coincidence that it was again an Aussie that finds something wrong with Murali. There should be sportsmanship not whinging just because some else is breaking records.

Cricket is a gentle men's game and leave it at that.
