Mourinho Ideas on England

England

Mourinho has carried on his habit of making plans for potential new posts. According to the Guardian he has been doing this over the last few months for Barca, Juve and Milan.

Now, according to the Times, he has also been doing this for the England post:

"Mourinho's blueprint includes restarting the building of the National Football Centre at Burton, the creation of an organisation based on club structures and a full-time medical department unconnected with any Premier League team."

This is either true or not. Let's just assume it is for a moment. He seems to have come up with some good ideas here.

We want the centre built for the future of England players. It would also give the England team a permanent base during international breaks. This should have been done years ago. It should have had a higher priority than Wembley in my opinion. But then I liked the idea of the England team travelling around the country (and I am from London).

An organisation based around club structures would allow players and managers to work in a familiar environment. It would allow the manager to choose and keep their backroom staff.

And having a full time medical team means that the national team could make their own assessments on the fitness of players. No more arguing about whether a player is really fit or not. It also means that clubs would be less suspicious of the medical people getting inside information on their players.

I have my doubts that Mourinho would like the job, though I would take him like a shot, given the chance. However, if we don't get him, we should at least ask him for his advice.

I would take José because he has the coaching class and motivational skills to get the players playing at their maximum level. I agree with Desailly's comments today that England did not qualify for Euro 2008 because their coach was not up to it.
There would be no excuses for anyone given his appointment.
And even a conservative coach plays to his strengths - we first of all need to be going to SA in 2010 - so yes priority is results - if we do not qualify for two consecutive tournaments in a row that is seriously bad news for all.
Get him while he is available!

Revelation,

I know he's stated he would like to manage Portugal at some stage, but he meant at the end of his career.

With the greatest of respect to Portugal, and I know they knocked England out of 2004 and 2006 (albeit both times by cheating!), Mourinho is too big for that job at present.

He'll come to England if the package is right, and if it looks like it's the best overall offer on the table.

The England job is more attractive to JM than Portugal because the salary is far bigger, and the size of the task is bigger- Portugal overachieving at the moment, England underachieving.

Whether it's more attractive than Real etc is a question which will only be answered by making JM an offer, if the FA will stop fannying about consulting Franz Blattini etc...

Gilson...sorry bud but we need a manager who:-

1) Will bow down to Barwick...

2) Can keep their mouth shout and say exactly what the FA press office says they must say and when to say it

3)Keep their cool or temper when adversity strikes the team

4) get on with ALL the players

5)Spend endless hours away from football bowing and scraping dependent on what the FA is trying to do

6)Have no skeletons in the wardrobe

7) Be dignified at all times

8) Have the personality of a freshly labotomised lab rat

9)Doesnt mind having the press intrude all day every day into every aspect of his close or extended family

10) Capable of motivating a team of overpaid uncaring bunch of under achieving losers

Sound anything like JM...ERRRRRRRRR NOP....

Barwick isnt the slightest bit interested in JM: its all BS.

The FA have not got the bottle

In reponse to fitting players in, a top class coach doesnt work that way.He works out a system of play a style of play then picks players who can play in that system...McLoser didnt understand this over arching concept.

IF you have the likes of Lampard or Gerrard available you determine which (if either) could play the system you want.If they cant they dont play. The England team has been a joke recently because the chinless plank of a manager didnt have the guts or backbone to drop these so called "world class " players to ensure the team was cohesive.

Harry Redknapp has absolutely no chance whatsoever. You can't have an England manager with any remote connection to an investigation on bungs.

Funny how that all popped out the wordwork just about as bad a time as it could have as far as Rednapp is concerned...sounds a bit dodgy...

When you look at possible england Managers the list seems a bit thin...any sensible English candidate has already said "no thanks" knowing they would be letting themeselves and their families, friends and pets in for a living hell which is being England Manager...

Coppell has indicated he'd say yes, as has Big Sam... yeah, credible and willing English candidates bit thin on the ground. Martin O' Neill may have played for N. Ireland, but he's effectively English.

Coppell actiually said he would "babysit" the role until the FA got the right guy and Sam may well be looking for a job if they dicked by Arsenal. As I said no English candidate...

Mourinho will accept the job if approached ealier than too late when another high flying deand like that of England has not been hooked up.

Who says Mourinho would not demand for high wages?, forget it and think of good football mgt and glamour when the ranks of Mourinho is on the England side. Good result/appearances for England in big football occations is better than huge amount paid for a result oriented coach of Mourinho's status.

Fire-on England.
