Hick: It's been a big misunderstanding

blown very much out of proportion

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has today rubbished reports that he is preparing to sell his shares in the club.
The American multi-millionaire, who completed a takeover of the Reds along with George Gillett back in March, has been bemused over the recent speculation regarding his future at Liverpool and today categorically denied he is looking for a way out.

"I just want to clear up with you that I am not selling any of my shares to anybody," said Hicks.

"I have no idea why anyone would think that. It was just rubbish."

Recent events behind the scenes have resulted in the fans declaring public support for manager Rafael Benitez and Hicks admits the situation has been blown out of all proportion.

"The fans are very passionate and that's what we love about them," he continued.

"It's been a big misunderstanding blown very much out of proportion. George and I are happy to see that it has settled back down.

"We've a big game on Sunday against Bolton, a big game against Marseille and a big game with our neighbours to the east and the main thing is the team is playing better."

Hicks also responded to concerns over their lack of day-to-day involvement at the club, but insisted that Foster Gillett, George Gillett's son and an Anfield director, would be here to be their representative in England.

"I guess we are absentee owners - there's no question about it," said Hicks.

"But Foster returned to Liverpool last week. He's our day-to-day person to help facilitate communication - and we come as often as we can."

The Dallas-based millionaire admits he has been surprised at speculation over a rift between him and co-owner George Gillett and insists he is still delighted to have bought the club.

He added: "George and I have never been closer. We both were very disappointed and confused as to where that inaccurate information came from.

"Owning Liverpool has been great, we're still enjoying it."

What you can guarantee is they won't retract their disgraceful reporting over the matter, especially their assertion that Rafa made two "vicious verbal assaults" on the owners, which simply wasn't true.

And they should certainly be giving that prat McNumpy his P45 after the hatchet job he did on El Gafa.

This is bloody ridiculous . How much longer can British media get away with writing such rubbish and sensationalising everything . This could have been costly had our owners been erratic and believed all the tripe that they had heard .

No wonder the English team doesn't live up to expectations . Sure enough McLaren probably wasn't good enough for the job but it's about time there was something done about these pathetic reporters and "so called" journalists . All they are is weasels and are damaging the game and people have been suckered into thinking like these morons .

Rafa arguement is not with Hicks but with Parry. According to the rumours rafa wa stold by the owners all transfer business was conducted via Parry, so Rafa gave Parry a list of three players to buy (pne free, one bosman and a defender). Parry was then suppose to inform H&G of the targets and get the OK from them for Rafa to move on them , Parry forgor to inform the owners. Rafa was unaware of this and phoned the owners (last week)direct to see what the problem was, they told him to conduct business via Parry and concentrate on coaching the team, which led to Rafa press conference last week.

Rafa if you believe the rumours then resign on Sunday, moores rang Parry and asked whether it was true that rafa had resigned , Parry realising he stuffed up (again) then apologise to Rafa and explained that he had not notified the owners of the transfer she wanted to conduct, Rafa withdrew his resignation.

It was never about money as he would have finance the deals through selling a player (Carson)

Then again I could have been misinformed.

There are some columnists in this country that simply do not have a clue. They hop onto the coat-tails of each other and try to out-sensationalise things, to sell newspapers and to bolster their pathetic egos.

None more so than that goofy Chelsea idiot Mellor in The Standard on Wednesday, who asked readers to look at Rafa's record and the money he has spent, and concluded that they have no chance in the Premier League, and then has the arrogance to advise Rafa to "shut up".

Well, let's see...

Rafa has won the Champions League, where Chelsea have not.
Rafa has since reached another Champions League final, where Chelsea have not.
Mourinho inherited probably the most expensive team ever, and spent even more, far more than Rafa, even with his proposed signings in January, most of which are on Bosman's or free.
If we win our game in hand, we will lie in second place in the Premiership, one of the best starts for over a decade for the club.

So, look no further than that goofy snob Mellor in The Standard as a perfect example of how clueless they are. It is they who have the egos, and it is they who have nothing to back up their claims. What an idiot.

IN RAFA WE TRUST!!!

Hopefully, the severe warning they received from fans ahead of Porto game has made the americans think wisely. Today they seem having bypassed Parry since they sent on Gillett's son. A little change that will mean a lot to Liverpool.

Too bad rafa is now a YES MAN, he says he wont walk out of the club despite they gave him a condition to keep quiet. If another out burst comes up he wil be sacked and he agreed. So his hands are tied.Too bad putting himself in a tight corner. However the truth is one day very soon, he will get the sack.It may stall for sometime just like jose but he will be sacked.Even martin jol and others like that.Once the club owners have problems with you, dont ever think it's settled,it will finally hit you on any small mistake youmake in the future.Rafa get prepared or leave a Yes Mand and if you dont win also it's good bye. I feelsorry for him.

I've never read so much rubbish.

What facts do you actually know about G+H and Benitez? Answer - none.

When the chips are down , speculation is always rife, at any club, or sport, for that matter. What makes you think this situation is so different?

If anything, the Liverpool way couldn't be further from the norm. Liverpool have always had a history of giving their managers time, respect, backing, and funding. I don't see that any of this has changed and recent developments have merely reinforced this fact.
