Once again Mr Barton hits the nail on the head, this needed to be said. Now lets see you get behind the lad in your traditional way.

Has it started again??

I think the point he was trying to make that jeering the team and the manager when you are not doing so well is not overly helpful to the team. Someone said that if Arsenal / Chelsea / Man Utd had the string of results that Newcastle had then they would behave the same. They may do, but they are big and successful clubs, Newcastle are not and have been poor for some time now. I think the point he was trying to make is it will take time to turn the team around. If Alladyce is given time, he could very well do that but the more pressure he is put under by the fans (unecessarily, as you were never going to go from medicore to great in that short space of time), the more likely he is to get sacked as the board will be under pressure.

Newcastle need a few seasons of the same manager, not a string of poor managers, always looking for a quick few points to keep their jobs safe for the next couple of weeks.

Someone earlier said that Newcastle fans are delusional - looking at the job Sam has, number 1, to build a defence that doesn't look like a pub side, he was right. Also, if you think you can attract a bigger name than Alladyce, you are delluded further still.

Barton is spot-on.

Newcastle have to wait for success and accept that while Allardyce is building his team then they are in for a rocky period. When Benitez came to Liverpool we suffered for awhile. Not too long after his arrival Liverpool blossomed and have been a force ever since.

Think the toon(see small case, as in - shame on them!) army should wait and see and button their lips.

As a N.E. football supporter I doubt whether Barton can ever redeem himself with the fans of Newcastle. An early exit from the club might be the best damage limitation for his career. On the comment made; "Would Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea have taken Sam Allardyce as manager. I think not."
Why do Newcastle fans still rank themselves alongside these other great footballing clubs? You had a period under Keegan when Newcastle football was good but even then never managed to win anything. I agree fans deserve to their see their players give 100% every game given the astronomical salaries they receive. But maybe this attitude of the fans is hurting the club as tensions are converted to pressure for the players.

I disagree with the last comment.
Newcastle are a huge club..far far bigger than the likes of chelsea. If would love to see you win something if we couldnt win it..
Joey barton is trouble. Somebody said newcastle had signed citys best player at the start of the season...sorry guys but joey isnt that good. He cant pass but thinks he can spray it around like glenn hoddle...He is a very average but hardworking player..I`m glad we have got shut of him and his pathetic press interviews.
Sam alladyce isnt big enough for newcastle in my opinion

If you watched Inside Sport the other night you would see that Joey Barton is nothing but a jumped up thug. Who couldn't care less about what he does or who he hurts.

He is a disgrace to English football!!!

first off i am a newcastle fan,
I'll be the first to say the team are playing rubbish. but what a discrace it is that certain fans are getting on the team and the managers back.... we're not gonna get success overnight and blaming individuals is shocking. get behind the team if you call yourself a fan. or we'll lose one of the best managers in the premiership

the views of mr gilmour ( newcastle supporters ?? association ) show just what is wrong with the club - nothing - it is just that the board of directors seem to run scared of a group of so called supporters who dont recognise a great manager when they see one . as my 606 name suggests i support liverpool but the liverpool fans have nothing but respect for what he achieved . these supporters at newcastle need to learn how to not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - or sam go somewhere where you appreciated .

While Joey Barton is no angel and has been branded a thug by every supporters group in the country. His comments are just and perfectly true. No fans should boo their own club whether home or away, win or lose. The passion in football as shared by scousers, cockneys and gordies alike is that they support their club til they die, no excuses! I am a liverpool fan and while it is good to see us win convincingly at tyneside, i feel for the newcastle players and allardyce, since when have newcastle ever expected to win against a top 4 team??, when do they expect to win away from home except for at smaller clubs?? Not very often! While they have some decent players in N'zogbia and Martins, the lack of depth and consistency in the squad confines newcastle to being a mid table team, no spark but the potential to beat any team on their day. With owen injured and martins mis-firing they won't score game after game and won't gain points, its simple. I think all you newcastle fans need to step down off your high horses and realise you are NOT a big club, so what you are a well known club, your expectations are somewhat misguided, the premier league will never be in your reach, you are lucky to make it to cup semi-finals and you have to nerve to boo your team rather than stand up and support them. When liverpool lose (not very often) i am gutted but i'd never boo my own team or demand the manager be sacked, when a team loses its simply a bad day at the office and things can only get better right? Get behind your team and maybe they will start performing, without the fans support how can players show passion on the field?

I lived in Newcastle for 25 years and Geordies are the friendliest people on this earth and I would defend them to the last. However, put on a black & white shirt and they smash up the Bigg Market in the city centre at the end of the season. Are racist against some of their own players. Smash the windows of the home of the Chairman who took the club out of many years of the Boards tight control. Are vicious and hostile to visiting supporters ( been there and seen it on many occasions). Got rid of Jackie Charlton and Kevin Kegan (both God's when the started and hated when they left). We all know what Barton is but he has hit the nail on the head. Grow up Magpies!!!
