daemonbad (U10532798) posted Dec 2, 2007 Good fightback from Pakistan , I expected them to do so but certainly didnt expect Akmal to score a century. I am shocked by the dropped catch of Akmal by Munaf off a brilliant bouncer of Zaheer when he was on 80 odd. What I am disappointed with is not that he dropped a relatively straightforward catch , sometimes the ball just slips through or your hands are in the wrong position, but that he made no effort whatsoever. It was a top edged skier , he had plenty of time , and yet instead of rushing forward he casually took a couple of steps forward that too very late and ended up making a ridiculous dive.Had he jogged a yard he would have taken that around waist height. Such catches of top edged hooks are easily taken even at club level, let alone international level. This pretty much sums up what is wrong with Munaf , no commitment whatsoever in the field . Coupled with his tendency to bowl at least one long hop every over and his lack of pace, I dont understand what he is doing in the team at the expense of Pathan , VRV and co , much tighter bowlers , definitely better fielders and handy batsmen.Besides as Pathan has demonstrated in the Ranji matches , he can be devastating with his cutters on these sort of wickets.Patel belongs to the grind of domestic cricket where he should hone his skills and is completely out of place in the international scene.

Aktavist (U7832440) posted Dec 2, 2007 This series reminds me of the last one in India. India won the first one and Pak saved a draw in the second with a century from Akmal with a big partnership with Razzaq. The third test Pak won to level the series.

mohsin1ke (U10571995) posted Dec 2, 2007 The Pakistan team is quite simply in transition. The team is under strength. Their batting is immature: Salman Butt, Faisal Iqbal and Yasir Hameed are not seasoned players yet. In fact I don't even know why Faisal Iqbal is even playing. The batting is not aided by the absence of Shoaib Malik either, who is usually a cool head in the middle of the field. Perhaps the biggest asset missing is the huge force of Inzimam ul Haq. I'm not saying he should be playing but the team is still trying to find its place.
