this even says that akhtar, asif n gul form a lethal attack, on eof the best in the world. the problem is that the 3 of them have never ever played together in a odi or test match before. twenty20 world championship was an opportunity for the 3 of them to play together in a match for the first time, but shoaib messed it up.
my question is will that will this world-beating attack ever play together? the way they're going right now, it seems highly unlikely.
i really do hope they play together

All the responsibility is over Shoaib malik.Although Akmal and Misbah played very will but the score of Indi is also very huge. Now on the fourth day pakistan has to stay on wicket till the day end.

Good fightback from Pakistan , I expected them to do so but certainly didnt expect Akmal to score a century. I am shocked by the dropped catch of Akmal by Munaf off a brilliant bouncer of Zaheer when he was on 80 odd. What I am disappointed with is not that he dropped a relatively straightforward catch , sometimes the ball just slips through or your hands are in the wrong position, but that he made no effort whatsoever. It was a top edged skier , he had plenty of time , and yet instead of rushing forward he casually took a couple of steps forward that too very late and ended up making a ridiculous dive.Had he jogged a yard he would have taken that around waist height. Such catches of top edged hooks are easily taken even at club level, let alone international level. This pretty much sums up what is wrong with Munaf , no commitment whatsoever in the field . Coupled with his tendency to bowl at least one long hop every over and his lack of pace, I dont understand what he is doing in the team at the expense of Pathan , VRV and co , much tighter bowlers , definitely better fielders and handy batsmen.Besides as Pathan has demonstrated in the Ranji matches , he can be devastating with his cutters on these sort of wickets.Patel belongs to the grind of domestic cricket where he should hone his skills and is completely out of place in the international scene.

I would give 100% marks to Akmal & Misbah for the way they played today.
Having said that, the Indian bowling inspite of the presence of Kumble & Bhajji on a turning track, had started to look a bit ordinary, a matter for introspection before they visit Australia. Wonder how many times the spinners will have the luxury of bowling with a large total supporting them.

I suppose your activities concern watching balls on the high streets. You wont find me there.

This series reminds me of the last one in India. India won the first one and Pak saved a draw in the second with a century from Akmal with a big partnership with Razzaq. The third test Pak won to level the series.

Pakistan batsmen should learn from Misbah, cricket is much of mental game as a skill game.

If Pak can draw this test by batting another 50 overs. The pressure will be on India in the third.

The Pakistan team is quite simply in transition. The team is under strength. Their batting is immature: Salman Butt, Faisal Iqbal and Yasir Hameed are not seasoned players yet. In fact I don't even know why Faisal Iqbal is even playing. The batting is not aided by the absence of Shoaib Malik either, who is usually a cool head in the middle of the field. Perhaps the biggest asset missing is the huge force of Inzimam ul Haq. I'm not saying he should be playing but the team is still trying to find its place.
The fielding, lets be honest, has never been their strength. If anything, there is a little improvement. Kamran Akmal is getting better with wicket-keeping. He was just having a rough patch lately, on a brighter side his batting has improved immensly.
Now to Pakistan's "strength"... their bowling. An unfit Shoaib Akhtar, missing players of class such as Umar Gul and Mohammad Asif. Naved ul Hasan is missing as well, not sure why though. They still have great players, unfinished products unforunately, like Sohail Tanvir. Even though he is giving a great effort, he can't do it alone. A player that come to mind that can help the team in their time of need is Saqulain Mushtaq, who has been over looked many a time. A true match winner. Azhar Mahmood and Abdur Razzaq, pace bowlers, are other players that come to mind who have not been given a fair chance. However, using spin against a talented Indian batting line up would never work. Danish Kaneria is a class player, no doubt. But on a batting track against a team that can play spin in their sleep was never on the cards.
I think, unfortunately, Pakistan will lose this series. And Shoaib Malik should not be used as a scape goat. He has done everything right in my opinion, the only mistake he has made is due to his inexperience. And there is only one way he can get over that. Younis Khan should be the captain, but he obviously doesn't want the job. Malik, is a great choice, the new team will grow and mature with him. But we all know the results won't come straight away, and that will take patience. Something the Pakistanis are not used to. We are used to being a force in the cricket world, always challenging for the top prize. But this team needs time, the results will come.
