Now i am sick of all these people writing in here ,saying this guy is no good or your choice sucks.
I want anybody replying to trhis post to state their choice before they slate somebody elses and give there reasons for there choice.
The reason i chose o leary is he has been successful(in my opinion)at leeds(champions league semi final).ok people will say he spent loads of money .well so do chelsea and is anybody saying mourino is a bad coach.look at his strikers at that time .viduka and alan smith(2 journeymen).
And he was a huge success at aston villa .finishing 7th twice with juan pablo angel his main striker ( he now plays for la galaxy). No manager would work under doug ellis. The limited supply of players he had available( i believe at one stage they could only put 2 players on the bench as doug ellis would not sign for any players on loan. His whole defence was injured for 2 years .namely martin laursen and that swedish center half.
Here we have the most successful irish manager in history and where are these dummies looking for a manager. They are going to england to try to coax the bottom of the barrell to come over here. The reason all these guys are out of a job is they have continually failed.
houlier (played a jack charlton type high ball game with superstars like gerard etc )Eventually he was ran out of liverpool.their worst manager in the history of the club.

Villa didnt finish 7th twice under o'leary only once we finished 6th. Angel plays for New York not LA. Mellberg was never injured under O'Leary. And the two players on teh bench is the most stupid story i have ever heard. villa always had 5 on the bench. Get your facts right before you put his name down for the Ireland job. Give it to Roddy Collins he would be better than O'Leary

antod3 if you had brains you would be dangerous.
melberg was injured for a whole year if not more.do you remember liam ridgewell ,his replacement .
Why did the players revolt against doug ellis .
Because he woul.nt sign a player on loan.Because they had the smallest squad in the premier. When oleary sided with the players ellis fired him and replaced him with venebles who almost got villa relegated.
Your memory must be shot antod3.
By the way anto, you know the guy you keep saying is useless. One ,aiden mcgeady(best right sided midfielder in europe at the moment).
I hope you saw the game against shaktar last night.
Are you still saying he is useless .
you dummie

I have'nt got a clue who the next manager is going to be, but O'Leary is not the answer. The FAI will get it wrong again and after a few bad results, the same people from Tv/press will come out from under their stones and start getting on his back.

Where to start. Venables never ever managed villa. Ridigewell played with Mellberg because Laursen was injured please get your facts right. The players never revolted O'Leary sent a letter to the local paper saying it was from the players. He did have money to spend at Villa and bought about 2 good players and the rest were rubbish. As far as mcgeady goes. Shakhtar and Benfica are no great shakes. When he does it in the big away games for club and country i will say he is getting better. Where was he in Nicosia or Bratislava?

Totally agree, o'leary is probably the best irish manager around. He spent the big money on leeds after the champion league semi and 3rd place finish in the prem. he blooded youngsters into the team. he played the best attacking football in europe at the time. the papers have brainwashed all the idiot fans into saying the don't want O'leary but they have there own agenda. we as irish fans want the best. he's prob the best we can getsmiley

mcgeady is as good as the top right sided midfielders in europe .he is right there with the best.
irish shake who would say is better than .there may a few as good but right now i would not say there is anybody better in that position right now.
shaktar is a very strong team .benfica are not bad either.celtic may provide a few more shocks in this tournament yet.
For ireland mcgeady has been given limited opportunities competing with the likes of andy reid and that other useless guy that plays for wolves(mccarthy connection).
Even a great player will have problems playing alongside rubbish name reid, carsley ,kilbane and of course robbie keane.
when mcgeady is playing with these guys hiws movement is ina different league to these guys .The is late coming to him most of the time .As well he seems to be starved of possession sometimes where the some players see him as competition.
robbie keane is never in the right place .

robbie plays well with good players!! playn really good for spurs at mo! McGeady always takes one touch too much and the final product is often bad. Would love to say hes up there with the best but i'd be just tellin lies!! MOT

If O'Leary is so good, why is he not employed at the moment.
