Davis Cup final - USA v Russia

comment on the article

The tennis year will come to an end this weekend when the USA host defending champions Russia in the Davis Cup final in Portland.

The USA line up is Andy Roddick, James Blake and doubles specialists Mike and Bob Bryan.

Russia will be represented by Nikolay Davydenko, Igor Andreev, Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.

Should Russia play Davydenko, bearing in mind he has a 0-11 record against Roddick and Blake? Who will win the tie?

Your thoughts please.

This is the worst DS-final ever, it´s like Hitler and Stalin having a party together.

One of the best final obviously was when Moya and Nadal were schooling Yanks in Sevilla ok

i have a feeling USA will win 3-2 or better but depends on Blakey, Roddick is so motivated, (his motivation is good as long as he doesn't play Roger!).

By the way was listening to the Blackrock Champions podcast and Jmac does his Davis cup preview. If interested

The greedy Nikolay has probably already sold the trophy on the betting-market.

Davydenko will disappear (one way or another) in 2008. 3 - 0 start to the US. 5 - 0 if they want it. Tursonov may threaten but the fear around the Russian camp will put a lid on him for this fixture. I hope he does well next year. Safin too.

That was an exciting match between Blake and Youzhny....

I thought Blake held his nerve well, to give USA a 2-0 lead.

What part of "Davydenko would have done no better than Tursunov" don't you understand? Playing Davydenko wouldn't have changed a thing so should they be sorry?

I understand completely the words you have written . But it does not make those words correct.
Playing Davydenko could have made a difference. It could have changed everything.
YOU do not know that for sure. Therefore what you write is wrong.

What did I say. I predicted even before the tie started that The USA would have it all wrapped up by Saturday. And I was correct.
The Russians must truly be regretting not playing their best player now.
