The remaining seats for 2008

It has just been reported that Fisi and Ralf will be testing Force India at Jerez with a view of one of the last remaining seats in F1 next season.
That should be quite an interesting position for a small team when they have a selection of Fisi, Ralf, Klien and probably a few others to presumably partner Sutil.
I believe the denial by Sutil and Rosberg of wanting the McLaren seat indicates that the seat has probably already been given to either Kovalainen or De La Rosa. I can't believe either of those two would not want to move to one of the top teams, unless they already had a thought that the seat was in fact taken. It seems that Ralf Schumacher is the only one who has not heard this rumour/information yet!
Alonso seems to be destined for the Renault seat as his options have yet again been cut by Red Bull's denial this week.
It seems we will quite soon know the full line up of 2008 and more so than before, this week's denials and announcements have seemed to confirm many of the guestimates presented on this board before.

If Ralph and Fisi still enjoy racing, and someone wants to employ them, why should they step down? The notion that they should make way for younger drivers is completely lost on me!

It seems to me that Koveleinen (spelling?) is heading for McLaren. Uncle Ron will be keen to replicate the strong relationship he had with Mika. Heikki also has good temprament and will not cause Ron a series of headaches as Alonso did this year.

That leaves Alonso at Renault and I wouldn't be surprised if they retained Fisci for another year to keep the stability within the team.

Ralf has no place in F1 and Force India should mtake a long term driver that will develop along with the team. Ralf isn't dynamic enough in my opinion.

Roll on March '08!

Flogging a dead horse?

You have to ask yourself if these two (former)big names of F1 are in it just for the money. It would appear so. So in honesty, Eccelstone's coment is well observed. Hey, everyone's gotta make a living. These guys can bring sponsors and an element to a low end team. Once again it's all about cash, not hunger for success and sport.

"you talking about some floppy disks again? "

Well, not in so may words, but he (Fisi) will be able to bring some aspect of his former team with him that would be very useful.

Ralf though, well, what can he bring??

I was hoping they'd go for either Karthekeyan or Chandok in the other seat, but from the bunch they've got testing that looks unlikely now. I'd question Ralf's development ability: Toyota had one good season and slipped slowly backwards in his time there. Fisi might be a better choice in that regard, but really I think they're both spent forces.

Of the drivers testing, I'd pick Liuzzi. He's been around F1 for a bit and losing his seat at STR seemed to sting him into focus. He showed he has the ability to do a job in F1 and may be developing the mental strength to match it. I think he's their safest bet.

Why do people on this forum always mis-spell McLaren by putting two C's in there?? Geez its a Limey team and this is the BBC and you can't even spell their damn name right!

Narain Karthikeyan has no business in F1 - If they want an Indian pilot they can do better than him

The way i see it working out is that Alonso will go to Renault, Kovalienen (spelling!) will go to Mclaren, and Nelson Piquet jr will be promoted to Renault to replace him.

Flav clearly rates the guy highly, there was even talk of him replacing Kova mid season last year. i'm not sure where Fisco will end up, but i'm pretty confident he'll get a seat somewhere.

Perhaps Ralf should return to Williams on a one year deal....they knew how to get the best out of him, & on his day, he was a highly competitive driver....on his off-days, he might as well have stayed in bed....!
Fisi is the ultimate chocolate fireguard...i'm amazed he's lasted as long as he has... even Autosport magazine upto 2 years ago were STILL continuing to tout him at the start of each season as the next big sensation.....PAH..!!!
