Rafa is Our Gaffa...

Premier League Liverpool

So once again, the rumours on Rafa are running wild. Is anyone like me, getting just a little fed up with this?

Rafa is quiet simply the best thing to happen to Liverpool Football Club in twenty years, he is the single most important investment the club has made in that time.

He has taken a club that was hanging on to the shirt tails of the other three "big" clubs and drifting along, and turned us around. When is the last time Liverpool fans can honestly say, we where in the title race in December?

People moan about the players he's signed, and yes he hasn't always bought well. But has all of Sir Alex's or Arsene's signings worked out? And in Reina,Agger,Alonso and Torres to name just four, he's bought in not only quality, but players who could quiet easily play for us for the next 10 seasons.

His record of achievement aside from the league is compariable to any of the other big three. And his success in getting us to 2 C/L finals in 3 years is truly outstanding. Yes people said we have been lucky, but twice in 3 years is a little more than luck if you ask me.

People criticize his selection policy, "Rafa Rotates" "Rafa changes his team to much" But does he? Stat's show he rotates as much as Sir Alex, but does anyone dare to criticize his policy?

The problem for Rafa is simple, he's being compared to Sir Alex and Arsene...which is wholly unfair. He's only been at Liverpool for a short time in comparison.

I think Rafa is the right man for the job, he's taking Liverpool slowly but surely forward. From top to bottom we are in a far better state than the day he walked through the door. And the fact so many non reds are on here full of glee at the prospect of his demise, should show all Liverpool fans he's the right man for us.

Rafa is simply a great manager, and i for one fully back him.

So what you are saying its almost what united were like for 26 years, mismanaged both on and off the pitch,on the pitch by Mr Bojangles and Dave Sexton who turned united from a free-flowing team into something that is worse than a david beckham interview,Louis edwards off the pitch was a clown,he was the one who hired both these imcompetent bozos.

--------------------------

Pretty Much yeah -

"Chelsea's flops.
Kezman.
Shevchenko.
Tiago.
Crespo.
Boulahrouz.
---------------------------------------------

You missed out Maniche, Del Horno, Ferreira, Smertin, Duff, Huth, Jarosik, Mutu, Morais, Johnson & Scott Parker smiley"

And the whole point when comparing 'flops' is that all of Rafas put together cost about as much as one Jeffers.

Wenger/Fergie/Mourinho regularly lost on SINGLE PLAYERS what Rafa has supposedly wasted in 4 close seasons.

--------------------------

Crespo was not a failure the full season he played he was excellent - his family couldn't settle in Londo hence his loan to Inter - He was a success on the [icth.

ferreira has not been a failure he had to play out of position regularly and had a shaly start to last season. His performance against Ronaldo in te FA Cup was excellent - he shut him down and Chelsea won the Cup.

Scott Parker got injured and couldn't get back into the side flop? or Unlucky

Tiago also became a squad player - very hard to move Lampard, Essien, Makelele, J Cole - Duff did well in his first year - injury prone as newcastle have found out, Huth - Was behind Terry, carvalho, Gallas moved to get regular 1st team football after an injury failure or unlucky?

Maniche was only a loan signing as cover - so cant be considered a permanent player.....

blah blah blah blah.......

You could say the same sort of stuff for any number of our 'flops'...although hardly anyone does.

More to the point, yours cost millions, most of ours cost nothing.

Even more to the point, that still leaves Shevchenko!

True, Rafa is a good club manager. But does it not seem as though hes lost it abit.
My dads best friend works for LFC website, hes just been told that hes got until Thursday to produce an article about the termination of Rafas contract. Hicks And Gillet have flown their sons (and members of the board) over to do thier dirty work in my opinon.
The Rafa Era Ends Here...Now...

Shevchenko was brought to the club by the owner - his pedigree was unquestioned - The facts are that Chelsea can afford to spend that kid of money - Liverpool can't and thats after a 15 year period of domination that catipulted them to become the most successful club in England - What happened to the money; what did the custodiand of liverpool do - very little when Lan Utd could basically do a 180 degree turn on standings and performance..........

"What happened to the money;"

Most of the money in the prem came after the prem and CL came about.

OK, we can't afford to take risks on the Shevas of this world, and we haven't.

This is why arguing with people like you is so frustrating.

You don't seem to see the inherent ridiculousness in arguing that Liverpool have had loads of money to spend, while also saying we can't afford the likes of Shevchenko.

NB,

Our biggest single flop, just to re-iterate, was Morientes, who we took a 3million hit on.

People keep saying Rafa is poor at transfers and spends money like water, yet the value ADDED to players he has bought ABSOLUTELY DWARFS the value lost on players he has bought.

He even managed gems like selling Traore...FOR MONEY!!!! 2million+, just shy of the money he spent on Arbeloa...that's good business in anyones' book.

Hesibred:

Wat I'm saying is not against Rafa - rafa has inheritd a situation that was "negative" but Liverpools problems roll right back to the departure of Kenny Dalglish - Liverpool were Top of the tree.

It strikes me that Liverpool has been badly managed from an Executive standpoint not a pitch standpoint.

Rafa has done a good job - not a great job 4 years into his tenure and Liverpool are no closer - yes their best start in 13 years, unbeaten but their lying 5th in the league.

Why did Rafa have a public outburst? - he has been more vocal and complaining than ever before. the pressure is getting to him and his work on the squad is not really closing any gaps on the top 3 - The English passion and competitiveness can outdo great tacticians, I.e Man Utd v Munich 1999.

I refuse to believe there is any truth in the so called rift between Rafa and the american owners and I am pretty sure its all media hype, apparently the issue (if any) is Rafa(possibly) wants to sign Mascherano in the January transfer window rather than wait until his loan spell runs out at the end of the season, maybe to prevent us being pick pocketed by the likes of Real Madrid, among other clubs interested and worse still Manchester Utd (who may or may not be interested). But Mascherano may cost somewhere in the region of 17m and from what I have seen so far he is easily worth it. Rafa may be also wanting to put a marker down for other transfer targets? one rumoured to be: Ezequiel Garay the Racing Santander defender.

Finally for all those whiners or wino's who keep slagging Liverpool and Rafa here's some sobering facts about Liverpool:
1. Liverpool are the ONLY unbeaten team in the premiership.
2. Liverpool have the best away form in the premiership.
3. Liverpool in terms of form are second only to Arsenal in the premiership they are equal to and same goal difference as Manchester Utd with the advantage of a game in hand over Utd.

In previous seasons we have been a lot worse of than this and so far despite all the critisism Liverpool are showing signs of premiership challenging form and Rafa in my oppinion is still by far the best Manager Liverpool has had for a long, with the exception of Houlier who wasnt a bad old manager given his accomplishments in his time with the club and the fact that he laid the foundations for this current team.

Maybe Benitez should just persuade Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson, Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness or even John Barnes to come out of retirement?
