Billy Davies stated when he took the Derby job that his aim was to get them into the Premiership in three years. He did it in one. He's paid the price for over acheiving. As soon as promotion weas secured, there seems to have been a campaign to get rid of him from within the club itself. Derby are very similar to Watford in that they had no realistic chance of staying up. Seems to me that its another case of non football people making football decisions.

Pearson is a chancer.

Pearson bought Hull for a penny and repaid creditors a fraction of the debt they held. That was clever.

He had a couple of million backing from a local businessman and the backing of the local Hull council that gave him use of a brand new stadium for free. That made them the best placed club with most resources of the bottom 2 leagues. So despite messing around with finding the right manger - they eventually did with PT - they were always likely to get to the Championship. Once they got there, they no longer had more resources than the other championship teams, and hence struggled, so he left.

So Pearson now moves to Derby with no money. He is now using the current demand from overseas investors for premier league teams to fund a takeover. Of course he will only accept an investor that keeps him as chairman. This is going to reduce the number of potential investors as most investors bring in their own chairman to look after the money.

This looks like a case of the chairman looking after himself before the club. If he doesn't find the investment he will be a lame duck chairman and leave.

RIP Derby the "RAMS"

Come of it guys. Davies engineered a move because Derby were going to take him back down. Benitez is doing the same thing to get out of his contract. Davies wants the Scotland job and McCliesh wants one of the above.

The best thins Billy Davies did was to get the Rams promoted. The worst thing BIlly Daives was to get the Rams promoted!
Sorry guys, despite all the obvious qualities of Billy Daives and his squad, their playoff win over the Baggies was simply too early. I believe the Baggies would have been better suited to th ePremiership this season and, had Derby come blose, another year of team building would have proved to be of far more benefit than the year they are going through. Also, Billy Davies would still have his job and be able to work his magic.

Good luck Derby fans. I think you will need it!

I know I might sound OTT but (having already written to Adam Peason) I really think we should let the board know how we feel about sacking Billy, and show that the fans at least appreciated him and what he did for us by boycotting the new few matches. Whoever replaces him, and however they do because whoever it is we should not have sacked Billy Davies.
And everyone who goes should sing 'one Billy Davies' and have banners.
Because 6 months ago we were all in Pride Park singing as Billy lifted the cup.

Absolute madness to sack Billy Davies - I don't see what it's going to achieve. Everyone knows how hard it is to stay in the Premiership and Derby were / are never going to do it this season. Gus Hiddink wouldn't have kept you up. You should enjoy the season, take the money and attempt to come back stronger...

Do you know what I'll really miss?
Billy Davies jumping up and down like a mad robin on the side of the pitch, doing his whistling thing and with so much passion! He was great in interviews- a real character and I don't know anyone else who talks about himself in 3rd person- like he said yesterday-"Billy Davies will learn from this and be better"
Somehow he just seemed right at Derby.
He was funny and small and very good.
