5 live just reported that Mark Hughes has signed a contract taking him through to 2010.

Good news and well done to the club for securing him.

So he has over two more years to get the best out of Bentley and Pederson. Lets hope he can make both of them more consistent and less overrated. Furthermore Steven Reid may just get to play another game under Hughes as he's bound to be out again soon for another year or so.

Comment by SeaSeaSeasider -

Do we want a "bright managerial prospect"??

Wouldn't a PROVEN experienced one be far superior?

Mate, if you're suggesting rovers could get a better manager, then your either off your rocker, or an agent provocateur!
And thats not to say blackburn are a porr side who couldnt attract a quality manager - Hughes IS a quality manager!
you can say unproven - he coached wales and whilst we are admittedly a poor footballing nation, he did a fantastic job - nearly qualifying in a group that included Italy!

if you want experience, i hear steve mclarens down the dole office..

Isn't Seasseasider a United fan Rob? And commenting re: United getting a prospect (Hughes) rather than someone who has been there and done it.

However just look at what happened last time United appointed a relative unknown in the shape of Mr Ferguson as opposed to, say, Spurs appointment of Aime Jacquet...

I assume that this news mean that Mark Hughes would not be interested in the England job - not that I would blame him.

I shouldn't think that Man Utd. have though about who will replace Fergie yet, but Hughes, Steve Coppell, Steve Bruce and Martin o'Neill would be the likely front runners and maybe even Jose, depending in what he is doing at the time.

Great news for rovers. His comments after signing the contract were really positive too. This will give the players a further boost. Just curious abouth the jan transfer market though?. we need cm and rb quite badly

Good news for Blackburn and I applaud his decision to decline wanting to have anything to do with England and the pantomime that surrounds the job of managing our National Team.

Just been reading "stopthepress" and his excellent points regarding why so many good managers and players fail abysmally the moment they put on an England jersey. The whole set-up at the FA and their "frightened rabbit in the headlights" of our viscious Press mentality, should warn off anyone wanting the job. As "stopthepress" said, Hughes would be bound to fail with that lot of cynical fair weather friends, who would cheerfully welcome in on day one and by day two be plotting his downfall.

this is truly great news for england. A coach that sends his players out with the sole intent to kick lumps out of the other team wouldnt have a chance in international football. Stick to what your good at sparky.

Great result for Rovers...we'll probably loose him to Utd in a few years, but if we can get another three years out of him, then that's great!

Lets get a victory at Fulham and move up the table to ensure European football next season!

Up the blues!
