If Mourinho does not want the job, I would try for either Fabio Capello or Marcello Lippi. I can't see an English coach better than these.

That is probably the reason the F.A. haven't contacted him yet -they know he wouldn't bow.
On the other hand, he is the ONLY man good enough for the job!

To me the realistic answer is simple.

First off, lets ONLY talk about managers who openly state / admit that they WANT the job.

Foreign manager - Capello

English Manager - Redknapp (with Shearer as a coach, BUT do not even think of putting Shearer at the helm)

British Manager - None in contention as O'Neill is happy at Villa.

Pretty simple huh?

Right give me a high paying job at the FA, and a natty blazer.

We have concentrated so much on the manager, I beleive there is no team, and that is half the problem, players have to be willing to play together, and need to get on and enjoy what they do.

A good manager needs to have a team to work with

Capello is exactly what we don't need - A single minded, unpatriotic, miserable dictator. A team picked by the "experts" has failed. What, after all, is the point of having a national side except to unite the country's football fans in the vicarious thrill of a shared sporting struggle? It'd be a lot more thrilling for the fans if we picked our next winning England team together.
