im sorry im a sunderland fan but totally disagree with roy keane .You do not have to be a genius to see the most talented players in the EPL are foreign and in alot of cases england internationals are not first choice for their clubs . Crouch Bent Defoe SWP Carrick Carson before his transfer Bridge etc and the lack of technique is soo noticeable when compared to foreign players . SWP as far as i can see has very little ability cant trap head or cross a ball and for english papers to say not one croat would be in the england team sums up the average journalist who spends half their time praising england players as world class and half the time saying they are poor !!Very few england players are sought after by foreign clubs as their technique is inferior and as they are invariabley ill educated their language skills are normally non existant. We have very few players of true international class .

To anyone who saw the Croatia game it would have been obvious that they were more comfortable on the ball than us,..so yes we have a technical issue..but also a foolish manager. Carson ahead of D James? A big target man (Crouch) and no crosser of the ball etc

Cast your mind back to Venables (semis of Euro '96) and Hoddle (excellent record as England manager) and you will see they played, err, 3-5-2. There's a difference in playing 3-5-2 with no preparation and the wrong personnel (Gary Neville is not a wing-back) and training your team to play that way.

So why did they go to clubs where they knew they would not be first choice ?

SWP has gone backwards since he left City for Chelsea. It was his decision, no one forced him.

Yes - English players are technically inferior.

Worth noting that two of the players listed as real class (Tugay and Arteta) couldn't command a first team slot with Rangers in the SPL. Maybe the Premier League in England isn't quite as good as English pundits think it is.

The one common denominator who kept Arteta, Tugay and Gattuso out of the Rangers team is Barry Ferguson a real world class player.

Worth noting SAF put a bid in for him when he was at Blackburn after Barry got 4 MOM awards in a row after a tough time with injury. Instead he came back to Rangers.

It also amazes me that Fletcher gets slagged down south (as he doesn't bomb forward headless) when he and Barry showed the Italians how to keep hold of the ball

As for Absinth saying Scots play championship level players with desire. Get real. Most of the team play in the Champs League, beating the likes of Lyon, stutgart, AC Milan, Benfica to name a few this year.

Gerrard and Lampard. Can run all day, tackle and have a hard shot. Have you ever seen these players beat a man on the dribble or hit a 50 yard pass to someones feet a la Hoddle? No...neither have I!

I dont understand why everyone is slagging off English football now we didnt qualify for the Euros. This is stupid, are you seriously telling me players such as Gerrard J. Cole Rooney are techniqually inferiour than our European neighbours... i dont think so! I think people are too fast to jump on the band wagon and slag the team off when it goes wrong. we didnt qualify, dont mean we have a team of rubbish players.

zpat 73. i *sarcasm* I have also never seen lampard or gerrard pass quality long balls or beat a man on the dribble. its not like lampard picked out drogba with one of the best passes of this season so far to score against man city. and what a poor dribbler of the ball gerrard is. he never picks it up and drives through opposition players. *sarcasm over* i dont know what football you watch but you must just look away every time gerrard or lampard get the ball. the fact is tactically with crouch as a lone striker, england are shockin. its long ball after long ball rather than playing their strongest game. although crouch did well in the role he played there was no support for him and thats why england suffered. stick to ttwo up front.
