3 lions on the badge, not 3 kittensEuro 2008 England by Lozzy20 (U9431562) 21 November 2007 Total disappointment and anger flows through the body at this point in time. Lack of passion from the start, the national anthem wasn't belted out like it should be, the mascots were singing louder than the players, it is supposed to be such a proud moment singing your anthem and playing for country so why don't the players do it, do they know the words?! Do they just expect to be playing for England just because they have a "superstar" name and are paid millions each year!!! I feel sorry for all those who paid to watch that performance, especially the first 45 minutes where a very lack lustre approach seemed evident...4-5-1....were we going for a draw from the outset?!! Maclown's approach to this important game should be criticised! Every time they showed him in the first half he was standing there with his bottle of water (or was it gin or vodka in there, clouding his judgement) under his brolly not even shouting....then he comes strolling out a few minutes after the second half started, talk about taking the mick!! It's the don't give a damn attitude that stinks when these people are paid so much for playing a sport or managing a sport that supporters love and would love to be given the chance to be amongst! winifa (U9456748) posted Nov 22, 2007 Beckams response is one you would expect, just as the feeble comments by Steven Gerrard prior to the match about leadership, desire, and the sort of games he relishes as a pro footballer. They all choked!! No bottle!!

john_clarke (U5355728) posted Nov 22, 2007 I was very disappointed that England didn't qualify because they have played such rubbish. If they had managed the draw and qualify it would have been a travesty. All of England's problems would have been papered over, there would have been some criticism in the press but hey, who cares we qualified except we didn't. Now maybe something will change for the better but I like so many don't have the answers. The only one's who bothered on the day were Crouch and Beckham, the rest should be ashamed. Every time you saw the Croatian team's manager he looked as if it was the most important game of his career, he wanted the win, for the pride of representing his country. Mac and his losers lost before they started. Graham Taylor said before the game that if you play for the draw you could lose because of the break, play for the win and if all you get it is the draw then be happy for it. Lawrence Dallaglio put it so succinctly when he appeared on Top Gear about footballers and their inherent inability to stay up straight after a tackle . The rugby players call the premier league the Andrex premiership, soft and unnecessarily expensive.

mrcopolo (U6425499) posted Nov 23, 2007 I must agree with the sentiment of many who have written here. Englands players just haven't got the passion to win, the skill, the flair or the team work. They say they are disappointed, they will bounce back, more competitions to play, but how many times have we heard this before?! Time and time again we hear the same old dribble from the likes of Beckam and Gerrard after England fail to win, or crash out of a competition. They must think

talaman (U10478399) posted Nov 23, 2007 I think all the English fans and management forgot one important thing, Croatia is a very good team!! The won the group, the have been to a world cup semi final not too long ago, they have always performed well. They are a Soccer nation! I think what happened here is that a superiority complex took over, England has not achieved anything significant in many years yet they are placed above other countries all the time. You have to prove yourself on the field which you have not done in a long time. Stop singing rule Britannia and focuse on the rebuilding of your team and accept the level at which you play now, just average.
